22-250 reloading problems

Hey Everyone!
The name is shutzen, and although I've been lurking for a long time this is my first post Been shooting and hand loading since the early 50's and I have a problem that I've never encountered before. I'm handloading for a new rifle, a Howa 22-250 !500 Bull barrel. This is not my first 22-250, but it may be my last.As I only own one 22-250 at present I only necksize my cases.Therefore I only have to check my cases every reload and trim cases. What is happening is using the same dies for each case about 50% of the cases will not allow bolt closure. I trim the cases all to.2o7 col,and die form them neck resizeing. they still will not chamber. I have Mic'ed the cases and they are all the same/+- a smidgin? The only thing I have found different is on some the shoulder is a little closer to the neck. I know that will make it difficult if not impossible to close the bolt. My question is how using the same press and the same dies with a uniform stroke and pressure how can the shoulder lnngth be different? Also I use a lee hand trimmer, with a 22 cal pilot. But after necksizing, the pilot won't allow the trimmer to make contact with the case mouth. I tried a mechanical trimmer and the same thing happens. The pilot doesn;t seem to go far enough into the case mouth to let the trimer do any cutting This only happens on once or more fired cases .New cases load and fire fine. Also these loads are not max or even close altho that doesn't seem to make any differance
Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Myshooying freinds have never heard of it. In fact they had to see it to beleive it.

When I reload my 22-250 I full length size every 4-5 reloads just to get the cases back to size.I do lube the inside of the neck with mica a dry lube the sizer ball so that it won`t pull the neck at the shoulder making it longer and give it a shorter neck after trimming.

Varmint hunter magazine had an article stating Neck sized brass was no more accurate then full length sized. Just FL size brass from now on with plenty of lube and the problem is over.

varmint (fur) hunters are only looking for "minute of coyote" so full/neck sizing is same/same to them. My 22-250,223,243AI and 300RUM ALL shoot much better with neck sized brass. My other rifles (over 90) all seem to not have a preference either way.

MTBULLET, why do you think those 4 rounds shoot better when neck sizing only?

I like the idea of neck sizing only but now it seems alot more people are back to FL sizing everytime.

I think each rifle is different. I try both methods with ALL rifles as part of the load development process, and use the one that works best. To assume that one method is better in all cases doom's one to "minute of hair" and I like to get the max accuracy the rifle is able to shoot.
