Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 ???

What do you guys think of this scope? I have herd good things about them.
They are reasonably priced. You can get elev. turrets for them. They say they hold up to magnum rifles. They come 3 different retticles. Target dot, fine cross, BDC.
The target dot is the cheapest, and the BDC is 0n the high end. I have a bushnell 4200 elite 4-16X40. Would the Vortex Viper be a better scope? I'm looking to set up my new long range rifle

And if you like this scope who has the best price. I found the scope on optic planet.com for $289 for the target dot $368 for fine cross, $398 for BDC. Which Ret. is the best?

Those are all very good prices. They are having a sale on the scopes right now. From what I am hearing they are a great scope from the money. It is between the Viper and Sightron SIII for me. We'll see when the time comes. I tried talking my wife into letting me get one with the target dot, but its bad timing financially for me right now.

I have a 6~20X44 Vipers with Target Dot on my AR in 223 and love it. In fact I just bought 2 more from CS Tactical. One for a 7Mag Rem I am working on and one more just to have one on the shelf. The tracking and zero hold on these scopes have been great for me. Glass is awesoe to my eyes. I don't think you can even come close for the $$. I would sure give Mike at CS Tac a call for pricing before you buy. I am gad I did.

I have two of the 6.5x20x44 scopes, both with the BDC reticule. The first one I've had for over a year and have it mounted on a 7mm mauser. I got real lucky and was able to match my loads speed to the BDC. When sighted in at 100 and a speed of 2460 fps with a 162 grain Amax the dots are right on at 200 through 400 yds. Have'nt tried the 500 yds yet.
When shooting the box both scopes were excellent. They both return to the setting when you crank the turret up and then back down. I have the second scope on a 6.5 x47 L and I have fired one shot at 100 cranked the turrett up to the 400 and back down and then fired a second shot at 100. I did this for three more shots and the group size was .162 inch. Both scopes have over 500 shots through their respective rifles and are still going strongI'm thinking about a third one now to have on the shelve. The first two I purchased before they went on sale for $549.00 and am still happy with them. I thought they were a bargain at $549.00. Both scopes are very clear and bright. A friend has a Nikon Buckmaster and to my eyes the Vortex is clearer.

Camera land has the 6.5x20x44 for 249.00 and the 50mm for 279.00. i just got three of them. no taxes and no shipping great deal for a great scope look well built.

Why would you not want the 50mm objective instead of the 44?

I have two of them. Both with dot reticles. One is on a .300WSM the other is on a .223. They track well when dialing elevation up and back. The side parallax adjust works fine. I'm happy with both of them. I've had them about 9 months.

I chose the 44mm over the 50mm because of the weight and height difference. There really is no difference in light gathering ability between the two. I have a friend that has the 50mm and I have looked through them side by side at first light when coyote hunting and you can not tell a difference.

CameraLand, a sponsor, has them on sale for $249. That is for the target dot and wide plex. The BDC reticle will cost more. Even at full price, you will not find much that compares to the Vortex Viper. I bought the 44mm because I wanted the scope to sit lower. I recommend a set of Burris Signature rings with the ***-Align inserts to hold the scope. Those are awesome rings to go with an awesome scope.

My brother in law uses one on his unbraked 300 RUM and has never had a problem holding up to recoil. tracks great. just shot it yeasterday at 600yards. for the money I dont think that there is a better riflescope out there.

They are discontinued models(reticules). So I guess the sale will last as long as the stock lasts.

Midway has also gotten in on the sale so they may go faster.
