ok so i have a savage with a 26" douglas barrel in 7mm wsm and a remi 700 308 23" factor barrel
remi shooting 168amax 7mm 162 amax with both just at the lands in getting more velocity out of the 308... yes i know something is wrong with that. here are the specs for each
7mm wsm
winchester brass unfired
primer Remi LR ( non magnum, this is probably the problem but i dont think a mag primer will add 200fps)
base to ogive 3.204"
ar2225 powder ( RL 25 is the same i think)
66gr=2723fps
67=2779
68=2778
69=2865

308
remi brass trimmed to 2.020" (fired)
winchester LR primer
base to ogive3.276
ar2208 (same as varget)
44gr=2672fps
45gr=2754
46=2784
47=2868

so you see the problem i have. doesnt make alot of sense to me.
so help please...

The velocity for the 7WSM does seem a bit slow. I looked on reloadersnest.com and there is one load for a 160gn Sierra bullet with RL25. The guy is using 75gn of RL25, Federal 215 primer and getting 3125fps from a 25" barrel.
If you aren't getting any pressure signs, try bumping the charge up a .5gn at a time, lookiing for pressure and accuracy nodes. You should be getting at least 3000fps. JohnnyK.

In the 7WSM with 162 Amax my accuracy load is 3030fps with a 26" barrel using H1000.

Rockz is that with mag primers?
Johnnyk I agree it's slow. Very slow. With increasing the powder I've actually been up to 70.5grns and speed didn't increase much plus it's a compressed load. Enough so that the neck tension would have to be increased to stopmthe bullet pushing out with more powder.
Forgot to mention that the barrel is brand new

I just ran a 7mm wsm in my quick load . a 162 A max with 69.0 grains of Reloader 25 ( 105.7% filled case ) has a velocity of 3127 FPS . 69.5 grains is a dangerous load . my quick load does not have AR2225 listed . so I'm guessing that AR 2225 is NOT the same as Reloader 25 . Jim

Hmm thanks Jim yea my manual for adi powders ( ar makers) says 70.5 is top load for 7 mm. So it must be a little different. The chart in the back of book just said rl25 was the same

ADI powders are Hodgdon powders.
AR 2225 is marketed as Retumbo, I believe.
Check out the data for Retumbo and see how it matches

quick load says , 69.0 grains of Retumbo gives 2930FPS 104.5% case fill but a very low psi load . this load gives 47923 psi PMAX and the 7 WSM is rated at 64542 psi PMAX . Retumbo does look like it's close to the AR2225 velocity wise . Jim

yea i think that will have to be the answer chaps. thanks. im going to fone some people and try get a few mag primers and some ar2217 (h1000)
on a side not i tried some ar2225 in the .308 and .223. 165 in 308 44 grn 2225 1770fps .223 80vld 18grs 225 1290fps
could be fun to work up sub loads.
ps. i have a silencer for .223

I don't have AR2217 listed either .

H1000 shows a max load of 71.0 grains 109.3 % case fill ( 63965 psi PMAX) and the velocity is 3121 FPS . hope this helps . Jim
