This week on my favorit station THE MILITARY CHANNEL they were praising the 6.5 LAPOUA
as a great cartrige, what can you give as input?

whats under it doesn't really matter it's the 6.5mm that seems to be the magic?
I am currently getting a rifle built on the 6.5 X 47 Lapua Case.
It's necked down to 6mm then fireformed in an Ackley Improved chamber.
It's called the 6 Long Dasher or Ackley Improved 6 X 47 Lapua.
Case capacity is supposedly only 2 grains of water less than Tubbs 6 XC.
The non ackley version is about 4 grains of water less than the XC.
It's got a rep of being a very highly efficient case that will handle alot of pressure. Small flash hole, small primer pocket. Will fit in a short action. I am very excited to get it and start playing around with it..........hopefully soon!
supposedly a very 'inherently accurate' round? it does seem a good round but what does it do the 260 doesn't? 47grains of vit N560 gives me 2850fps from necked up lapua 243 brass with a 140 amax head , i can pretty much solve most of my issues with this load right out to fantastic ranges and it all fits in my badger ordnance mag kits on my custom remmys.
once the 260 is shot out i may rebarrel in 6.5x47 but to be honest there will probably be another sparkly super round by then which will maybe catch my eye? or i could just stick with my proven 260?

bobbyl , i don't think that achieveing the same velocity with a 139 grain bullet makes it better? even with a little less powder? it just so happens that 47 grains of N560 gives me the load density i want and is superbly accurate , well certainly enough for me anyway !
your right it does run with the 260 and what little extra you may be able to squeeze out of the 260 is not really worth worrying about?
i've had mixed results with the lapua bullet for killing deer whereas the 140 amax like it's 168g 308 bigger brother is superb. The 139 lapua is however an excellent target bullet but i like to use one round for targets and game wherever possible as i think this makes you a better shot.
the 6.5x47 is a good round but so is the 260 but then again so are a lot of rounds out there?
