Machine Rifle Rest

Is there a good Machine rifle rest out there.. Looked at the Hyskore Dangerous game rest... Looks good, not very good reviews though.. trying to get the very best accuracy potential out of my big magnums... thanksgun)

I had one of these rest and did not like it. (To many bells and whistles). It to much time to
get it on target and after each shot you had to start all over with the process.

Like you I wanted something that was better than the sand bags.

I do a lot of proof testing of rifles and I needed something that would hold the rifle with out
me being close to it, So next I tried the Caldwell lead sled and it works good for all the things
I wanted to use it for.(Proof testing, ammo testing, Bore sighting, Cleaning, and taming recoil
a little on non break'ed rifles. PS: I don't add weight because it doesn't need it .

There are lots of good rest available but I prefer the one piece lead sled and the price is
reasonable. Caldwell makes a higher priced model that might be to your liking.

J E, I noticed you said the lead sled doesn't need any weight. Do you think with a couple bags of shot added to the lead sled that it is or could be damaging to the gun because it doesn't move enough? I've actually heard people say they think it is hard on the stock because it doesn't provide enough give with the weight added. Your thoughts???

I have a lead sled.. works fine...it jsut doesnt let me get the butt of the gun down... you have to sit way to high.. is there a rest that has an adjustable butt end .. thanks.. also that is what I thought about the machine rest....

I know people that do add some weight and do fine but if you add to much weight and do not
allow the rifle to recoil some it could damage the stock and the bedding.

The adding of weight is normally not a problem if the rifle has a break or not much recoil
but on dangerous game rifles it is not a good idea to add a bunch of weight.

The led sled will double or triple the effective weight of the rifle during recoil there by
redeucing felt recoil buy the same percentages.

The only down side to most one piece rest is the height (I use a boat seat cushion to make
up the difference) when switching back and forth between the rest and bags.

Some of the more expensive rest have a recoil shock system to dampen this issue but
there are just to many adjustments to make after each shot and I feel that simple is
better in most cases.

And no I don't have stock in the company I just like what it does for me.
