Nice Job.

Back when I hunted with a bow, the closest I ever was able to get was about 60 yds. That was too far for my shooting ability, so needless to say.......never got one.

I am a Nevada Resident now just haven't changed it in my profile. Depending on where and what your hunting as a NR you can get tags very easy...or wait a lifetime.

Ok story of the hunt:

Details of the hunt... On a previous scouting trip I found this buck hanging in one of the fields next to some land I had permission to hunt on. I was under no delusion that I had a chance at this buck. With no antelope under my belt I was after the first legal buck that came within range.
On Sunday (first day of season) I tried out my cow decoy that I had toiled over for a few hours one night. A smallish 12-13in buck was highly amused to the point of staying right at 100yrds in front of me over a half mile as I followed him.
Strategy number 2 was a broken down bale wagon that was parked 35yards in front of a gate the antelope were using. There was a nice 3x5 spot to wedge into between where the engine and the bale chute were. Waiting there (after arriving 5 minutes after a herd of antelope went through with a nice buck bringing up the rear) for 6hrs produced 2 does and a fawn coming through the gate.
3rd strategy for Sunday was an attempt to stalk using the weed cover around the outside of a field. After getting a face full of grass hoppers and the antelope moving well out of range of the weed patch I abandoned that idea.

The big buck and his harem of does although very intolerant of stopped vehicles or people walking they paid no mind to farm equipment. I watched as the farmer swathed the field on Sunday and the antelope casually moved 10-20yrds in front of or to the side of the swather to let it pass.

Day 2: (Aug 2nd) This morning after trying out the bale wagon gate stand I decided to go ask the farmer if it was ok to hunt the field the big buck was in. He was like sure no problem. "How are you gonna get close enough to get him with a bow?" was his question. Well that was a good question and I hadn't quite thought of it. Figured I would get permission first and then worry about getting a shot.

One problem with pivot fields is the tracks they dig fill up with water.... So the Antelope have feed and water and no reason to leave. Waiting for them to exit was a futile attempt as they do it on a whim.

Seeing the blank look on my face he is like, I got a idea follow me. He let me hop on the side of the swather as he drove around the edge of the field. I hopped off and he kept going.

The buck is staring at me broadside from 26yrd as I am crouched down and draw my bow. Trying to steady myself he turns hard quarter away from me and takes a nice #2. !@!! The does at this point figured the weird shape aint suppose to be here so they trotted off. Buck finishes up his business and heads off after them. GREAT just blew my chance!

For some unknown reason he stops and looks back again. Quick range with the Ziess 46 yrds.. Adjusted the HHA with a quick flick of my thumb. Pulled back, steadied the pin behind his shoulder and sent the arrow on its way. Arrow zipped through so fast he wasn't sure what happened. Does had it figured out and were hightailing it. He made it about 100yrds before tipping over.

He is probably one of the 3 biggest antelope I have seen alive. green scored right at 80 P&Y. 16.5 horns
