Hey everybody,

Just want to say hi. I've been a lurker here for about a year. I just purchased from the LRH gear shop, the BLM map (Wyoming) and ACI/ACD combo mount for my hunt coming up this fall.

Semper Fi,

Mast

Welcome, glad to have you here. Lots of good folks and lots of good info. Are you still in the Corps? Semper Fi. Enjoy.

Thanks for the replys,

Chas1, I was active duty from 89 to 92 and did some reserve time with an MP unit out of Dayton, OH. My active duty time, I was stationed outta 29 Palms, Ca. with 3/7 at that time. Once a Marine, always a Marine. :)

Semper Fi,

Mast, From what I remember...near 40 years ago, no one wanted to go to 29 Palms...Just nothing out there. Was it still that way when you were there?

From what I hear now, it's changed big time. It has grown from when I was there. They have new training areas that simulate A-stan and Iraq environments.

When my active duty obligation was finished in 92, there was the major cutbacks and quite a few bases were closed. El Toro MCAS was closed around then. I heard that those air units moved to the "Stumps". If you remember doing a CAX, 29 Palms was the place. lol I do remember getting the hell outta there on the weekends and going to San Diego, Palm Springs or Las Vegas. :)

Back in the early 70's few...very few had cars so for the most part most folks were stuck on base. Thanks for responding. Take care.

Hi SBruce,

A small group of us go to Medicine Bow for Antelope. Didn't get any tags for deer though this year.

Chas1,

Was lake bandini (sp) there back then? I hated running by that dang place. We always seemed to do our fit test there. Go figure.
