Well, I've shot out all my 100gr Nosler solid bases and I'm looking for a new bullet for my factory 243 700 with a 24" bbl, 1 in 9 1/8" twist. I will be hunting mule deer and hogs out to about 350 yrds and target shooting the same distance (that's as far as my range goes). I'm considering the 95gr or 100gr Nosler Partition, 100gr Sierra Game King, Swift Scirocco II or? Considered the Nosler e-tip, but a little to pricey to target shoot with. Never had much luck with Barnes. Considered Nosler Ballistic Tips and Berger Hunting VLD but I don't want a bullet that breaks up and does excessive meat damage. Your thoughts?

Barnes 85 TTSX or Berger 95 VLD. I know you said that you have had no luck with the Barnes but they will shoot. Don't try to load them like you do conventional bullets, let them jump.

I have always been told when in doubt shoot a partition!! Barns are good bullets but if you dont like them, then you just dont like them. Sounds like you would have alot more confidence shoothing the partition.

I've seen the Bergers do some awesome work in those ranges on deer and elk out of a 243. A bullet that comes apart in the center of the animal does very little meat damage and TKO's them. I know they would rock the deer but hogs are in short supply in MT so I couldn't say on those, I've heard they can be tough.

My 6mm bullet this year will be the 107 Sierra Match king. I shoot it from a 28" 1 in 8 twist in a 6mm br. I hit a yote facing me at 653 yards. Entered the front shoulder and exited with a 1 1/2" exit under the tail. I feel it will work well for my antelope and deer out to that distance.

I would go with the partition or the cor lokt. I killed four mulies with my .243 when I first started hunting and they worked pretty good.

coyotezapper - I'm a little confused, are you recommending the 80 TTSX or the 85 TSX? I'm thinking of reconsidering the 85 TSX, especially since I read a few posts where folks load them and the 85 gr SGK and can switch back qand forth between the two as bullet trajectories are very close. Is copper fouling still a problem? Last time I tried Barnes I would get 10-15 rnds down the tube before I had to scrub it.

ovastafford - I do have some 95gr and 100 gr partitions I'm going to work up loads for. Nice to see someone recommend the ole' tried and true corelokts.

+1 good bullet, my br runs out of gas to show the full potential of this bullet.

Unfortunately, I don't have the twist to stabilize that particular bullet....

Keep the suggestions coming!

I have been reloading for various 6mm's for the last ~10yrs, .243, .243 ackley, 6mm, 6mm ackley & the 6mm-284; bullets anywhere from the 75gr V-Max to the 107 SMK & taken animals with nearly all of them. The most consistant performers on larger game has been the Barnes, I have not shot anything bigger than a coyote with the partition as my 6mm ackley is only 1-12" twist which pushes an 85grn Partition @ 3500fps (outstanding on varmints!). As to your fouling question, the old Barnes X bullets fouled badly but I put up with it because of bullet performance; i have in FACT seen a huge reduction in fouling & an increase in accuracy with the TSX & MRX (which I use in nearly all of my rifles from 6mm to .458). I do believe the TSX may still foul slightly & i mean slightly more than conventional bullets; however, the added performance, IMHO is well worth the extra effort. I know people who shoot a LOT of partitions & love them, unfortunately I do not have the experience to provide any usefull info on Nosler bullets.

Either one. The only difference is the plastic tip. The 80 gr. TTSX you will be able to run a litltle faster( 75 fps.) but not much. I have run the 85 gr. TSX @ 3450 fps. and it works great.
