Light Savage stock

I'm looking to build a relatively light rifle for backpack hunting in either 300WSM or 7mmWSM. I've become enamored with the ease of working on the Savage action myself, and being able to swap barrels etc without a smith (currently have one rifle set up as switchbarrel).

I'm trying to identify potential lightweight stocks to use, obviously selection with a Savage is more limited than a Remmy. Any suggestions are welcome.

My friend has the woodchuck for his savage/stevens la centerfeed it felt stiff and light vary comfy to shoot.

I'm not sure what you are considering light or what your budget is but when the time comes, I'll be using a 3.5 lbs folding sniper stock from Choate for $220.

I'm liking Nate's suggestion the best so far. Though the don't list the weights for comparison purposes. McMillan makes good stocks but dang, I'm not dropping that much on a non-tactical stock. The folding stock is interesting but a 3-1/2 lbs it's quite a bit heavier than most of what are considered lightweight (20-some oz) and the ergonomics of the grip look a bit questionable.

I'd personally take the 10.5" portability on backpack hunting over 2.25 lbs difference in weight specially around steep terrains. I shot a friend's Savage with an older version (grip is basically the same) and it was surprisingly comfortable.

I got the money saver from Stockade and if since you like to do things yourself. I did mine which was the first time I tried it and it was very easy and only took about 3 hours work including drying time for the paint.
