My kids know how to respect, load, and shoot a gun, the concern is another kids that may enter the house.
I do feel very privelidged that I live in an area that a loaded gun in the house is not necessary. Of course there are loaded mags in seperate places from the guns

I think some mistake the point of the video. No..... all guns but one stay in the safes. I have a judge that goes by the bed at night. YES she does know what guns are. No I am not naive enough to leave a loaded rifle by the bed post. A long distance rig would not be the self protection gun of choice for my family. I appreciate your concern but the slam was a little over the top. The video was made just for fun. More for the documentary purposes of exploding fruit however the dialog I felt brought a bit of humor to it. Relax.

Last weekend the neighbor kid stopped over and I got out the little self adhesive exploding targets! The look on his face probably matched mine as we shot them and proceeded to stick them on the side of 4oz cannisters full of powder from cases that I pulled the bullets and then on to filling more with first diesel for smoke then gasoline

I have three daughters. Amen!! they know what a gun is, what it does, and that they are only to be used on bad people I don't know. they have stood there in amazement as I skinned deer at what that little bitty bullet would do to that "big ol' deer". and they see enough guns that they think nothing of them. Just another tool of daddy's not to be touched unless he says so. nothing more nothing less. But they know what it is used for and what it can do. I remind them regularly when the subject comes up. I don't believe in hiding guns from your kids. It just makes them more interesting, like the forbidden fruit. I will never have that. they see me working on them but never playing with them. if I am working on a gun they look at it just like I was working on the washer, or at my job. they are young and ask questions of course, but the only problem I have is them leaving plastic tipped bullets alone. They are pretty and they want to play with them. Its funny though when my friends are around and my 6 yo will bring me a shell, and say, I found this loaded round laying out and I don't want the little kids to get it. She has helped me load enough ammo that she can tell you all of the components of a loaded round and what each does. But the bottom line is that I just don't want them to ever think a gun is a big deal, I don't want them to fear them in any way or to think they give you some sort of magical power which has been what led to most child shootings I have known of. Also they are not allowed to have toy guns. I tell them when they are old enough I will get them a real one.

ONLY if you dont train them and teach them about it sir, otherwise you are the smartest man on the block.
My children have been around loaded guns for 16 and 14 years respectively, and they KNOW how to clean them, load them, cock them and shoot them sir.
I am a genius if you ask me.

My Daughter had a boy over a month ago - I "mistakenly" left a box of buckshot in front of the door when he arrived (sha wanted me to leave because she knows how I am).

"Back in the day" our oldest son Dennis, then 17, now 41, made a "movie" of Reba (wife) and I practicing with our hand guns and then our hunting rifles. Showed it a few times to "perspective" boy friends of our three daughters. Of course, I also might be "cleaning" a weapon when one of them showed up. One of our now son-in-laws stated he was more mindful of Reba's unexpected abilities with her 7mm mag both in the "movies" and in actual hunting results.
