Necking the .300 Win Mag down to 7mm has me intrigued. I googled this wildcat, McWhorter rifles seems to like it.

What I'm looking for is any real life experiences with this round.

I'm considering a build on a M-70 Classic Stainless with a 24" barrel.

>100fps faster than a 7mm wby. and a whole lot cheaper to shoot. Not quite the performer of the 7mm ultra but much more efficient and less recoil. McWhorters told me they are getting 3150fps out of 180 Bergers. I have already ordered the action. McWhorter will be building mine as soon as all the parts come in.

As close as I can tell with my Chrony and using what matches the drops in my exbl program I am getting 3175 ~3180 with 180 Bergers and a 28 1/2" barrel.

Jeff,

Haven't had time yet to read the whole thread, looking forward to it.

In the meantime, what's the COAL of your loads?

Head of case to O-give of bullet is 2.950" Not sure of the oal right now as I dont have that with me. But these will fit in a standard rem magnum mag box. I am .115" off the lands as the reamer had some freebore.

What size bushing are you guys using for the winchester unturned .300 Win mag brass for sizing. I have a 7mm-300 Variant called a 7.21 Sage it is almost identical to the Valkeri print in this thread with the acceptation of a 35 degree shoulder. I had mine done last year, reamer that is. I'm just getting a barrel chambered now.
