Remington 9 1/2 magnum primers

From the primer heat charts I have seen they list the 9 1/2's as the coldest.
1 fed, 2 win 3 cci then 4 rems. I remember seeing an actual high speed camera
flame test on them so it wasn't conjecture. Google it and you'll find it.

Why do i never really hear of too many people using them. I picked up 100 of them today for my 7mm and 300. wsm.

I don't know. Might be availability. They have been harder to find around here for the last couple of years but I have a box of them to try in my 7mmMagnums. I also have a box each of Fed215, CCI250, and WLRM to try in them.

I use the Rem 7-1/2 primers in my .17 Remington because they are better in a high pressure cartridge like the .17R. I have two bricks of them which is probably a lifetime supply.

I found the R 9 1/2 to be better under max load conditions than the Fed 215s in a 7mm Wby. You do not always get the most uniform ignition with the hottest primer. Sometimes less is best.

I use them in my 7mm and .264. Havent tried anything else so far even though I have cci's and winchesters also.

I had some laying around and started using them in my 7mag when the Federal 215M's got hard to find. It seems to like them.

matt,
I use them quiet a bit in the 7Mag and .300WinMag. After the CCI BR2 they're my second choice. I found them at a good price at a gun show in Raliegh, N.C. a few years back and bought 3000 of them and 3000 of the 9 1/2's. I haven't bought Federal primers in years and only one 100 pk of WLR in the past 10 years.
I have used them and found some accurate loads in a couple of .22-250's, .243's and the .25-06 (Sendero) I gave to my son. I have tried them in several more calibers that I have loaded for friends and associates. I'll probably try them in the 6.5x284 I recently acquired also. They work fine for me. JohnnyK.

I have his reloading stuff.
I just used, for the first time yesterday, his No 9 1/2 Rem large rifle primer in a 45/70 case with .5 up to 1.5 gr Bullseye behind a 145 gr cast bullet.

They all worked just fine.

I don't know .

I use a lot of them on the intermediate magnums (70 to 90 grains of powder capacity) because
they give me better SDs than the Fed 215s or other primers that are hotter than the 9 I/2
rem.

The heat range of different primers can greatly effect the performance of any given load and
should allways be considered.
