I think Neal has some experience with the Edge and 250 grain bullets...........maybe he'll post something.............I hope so...........

Hey that's my rifle, the 17.75 Edge, wow never thought some one would think it would be cool, being so different from the rest. I shoot 250 smk's out of it and use H1000 powder, 98 grains was getting me around 2850 fps, but I haven't done alot of load development with it yet. I was fighting some accuracy problems and kept attributing it to my machine work, as it was only my second attemp at chambering a barrel, but later found out the front scope base was loose after removing the scope for a different rifle, the savage tupperware stock probably didn't help matters any, as after removing enough material to clear the barrel, it was really flimsy. This spring I plan on getting a new scope and stock for it, and finally get some load development done. I'll be interested in where this thread goes as well.

Us pistol guys all seem to be a little different... I've been contemplating a 338 pistol and took note of a 17.75" edge :) thanks for the info!

Zeb ..
Howdy Matt...ZUUUUBBBBAAAAA
Glad to hear from both of you . I also am running H1000 , between 96/98 grs , out of my 20 " barrel , Pistol ...so far it shoots at 3/4" . not the greatest .But , I have only 50 rounds down the tube so....
Ramshot and RL25 are next on the list to try, maybe even Retumbo . I have been shooting Hornady / SMK's but ordered some Lapua's to try .
I really don't worry about the speed , What ever gives me the best Accuracy .... I just dial it , after I find a load .
I have found it a challenge to shoot this , even with the 250's , the Gun takes some Concentration....But I'm really OLD....LOL
This is a McGowen 10 twist ,set up in a weighted (20#)Choate Sniper stock ,with the back end cut off . Has a Jewel 2oz trigger ,35 MOA Farrel extreme base and a 6.5x20 Leupold Scope .
I haven't shot it at Distance yet , but this week I'll get it out to 1000 yds .
I have a 338x375 Ruger I'm playing with also...about the same results , but with less powder .

Sorry Doug, not getting on these places much these days do to a demanding work load.

I won't be able to post load data because my various barrels are either in transit or being Ferratic Nitride treated. I would hate to have someone hurt using my data on a non- treated barrel.

My 338 Win Mag 17" is getting an Average velocity of 3000 and change with the 200gr Accubond. 2900 with 225gr Accubonds and just under 2800 with the 250 grain using Rel 17-H4831 powders.

In a Center grip small shank Savage Striker weighing 6.7 pounds with a Burris 3-12 Scope.
