Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to the board. My name is Karl and I live in Houston, Texas. I'm 54 and have just recently gotten back into shooting sports and hunting. I've followed the board for quite some time and finally decided to jump in as I've got a project in mind and suspect I'll be wanting some input along the way.

Anyhow, greetings to all here. Looking forward to becoming part of the group.

Karl

Welcome, glad to have you here. Lots of good folks and lots of good info. Tell us about the project you've got in mind. Enjoy.

Well, my most recent, though in the past, BG hunting was archery and pistol. With the renewed interest, I've picked up on the pistol thing again and put together two contenders, one in 45-70 and the second in 35 rem. I've always been intrigued with long range hunting and shooting but have limited experience. I live in Texas and just recently acquired a "spot" on a year round hunting lease that offers extended range shooting. With that and much research, I've decided to build a heavy barreled, long range coyote/med game getter in 6mm AI. It will be based on either a 700 platform or a TC Encore, both of which I'm familar with. I realize the 700 would be superior to the TC in some aspects but I'm really drawn to the single shot format for whatever reason. Anyhow, no firm decisions have been made with the exception of the chambering. Nothing has been purchased as of yet so the final decision as to the direction is still up in the air.
