I tried a search to no avail on this subject. I thought I read somewhere that this round is not that particular about seating depth but I can't find it. Right now I am about 0.010" off of the lands and my groups aren't that great.

Just wondering if some have experienced luck with changing seating depth.

Thanks.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

I can't really answer your question on seating depth as far as how many thousandths off the lands although I've noticed some pretty big differances in depth in the edges I've owned.

Another big accurracy maker or breaker ive noticed is neck tension on the bullets. All three of the ones I've owned liked very little neck tension.

Hope this helped,
Nathan

From 0 to 15 thou off the lands, my groups are good.
From 20 thou outwards the group size opens up just a small bit but not much.

Have not found a real sweet spot but more like a general area where it shoots better. I think this shows that the cartridge is quite forgiving and not too sensitive to seating depth. Others may have a different opinion.

90 grains of H1000, CCI 250 LRM primers...This is the standard load for Shawn Carlocks guns. My edge shoots 1/4 moa. I have tried different seating depths and it still shoots this well. The edge is one of the most load friendly guns I've ever shot. If you're not shooting this load, I'd try this first.

I have 2 338 edge's, a carry rifle and a bench rifle. I have tried seating depth in both rifles from 0.50" off to a few thousands off the lands and it doesn't seem to matter they both shoot in the .3's at 100 yards. This caliber is not fussy.

Had an EDGE that shot the 300gr SMK from .010-.070 off the lands 1/2 MOA out to 750yards. Seating depth did not matter.
Used H1000 for powder.

I have an ede that I have built twice. The first time it would not shoot anything I tried worth a flip. I shot around 500 rds trying to figure it out. I finally gave up and put another barrel on from the same company. The first group out of this rifle was around .3 and this is typical day in and day out. It really dont seem to care what you feed it.
