Which is faster? (MOA or Mrad)

If an antelope is 14" back to brisket it would be approximately 3 clicks for mil and 14 clicks for moa. This would make the mil faster to adjust than the moa. Am I thinking correctly????

I pre ordered the Vortex Viper 6-24X50mm PST FFP MOA and now thinking maybe I should change to the mil.

I'm mostly going to use it for long range hunting.

What do ya'll think???

IMO--I think you will prefer MOA more, unless you have a lot of experience beforehand in Mils.

I prefer MOA, less math. Try this explanation it may help.

Joseph, if you are ranging with moa it goes like this:
14" from back to brisket.
1.73 moa is your reading that brackets the 14"

Distance = (14 x 95.51) / 1.73 = 773 yards.

if you are ranging with milliradians it goes like this:
14" from back to brisket.
0.5 mills is your reading that brackets the 14"

Distance = (14 x 27.778) / 0.5 = 778 yards.

Math is basically the same but you will be a whole lot more accurate in reading
the moa than reading the mills. My personal preference would also be MOA.

Whether you use mils or MOA, when shopping for a scope, be sure that the reticle subtensions match the turrets.

i.e. - If you go with MOA adjustments, make sure your reticle measures in MOA, and if you go with mils, make sure your reticle measures in mils. This way, you can easily correct for misses or for follow up shots using the reticle to measure the required amount of adjustment.
