i just run across this video and thought you guys might like to see it. I knew Savage had come a long way and it looks like they are not done yet. I think they may be the leader of the pack and every other company is chaseing them.

For the dollars spent, I personally think that they are the best and overall the most accurate out of the box. No need to have a gunsmith true the actions due to the floating bolt head design, the barrel nut system allows the average "Joe" to swap out barrels at will with limited abilities and zero machining required. The Accu-trigger is a very safe "factory" trigger system, but not the greatest trigger with regards to feel. As you stated though, I completely agree that they are right now the most accurate out of the box rifles, bar none, especially given their prices vs any other rifles of similar specs.

well there ya have it. The reason I chose this company over others. Though I will admit, I do want to do a Howa build on of these days. The other is purchasing a Savage Target action and doing some type of a varmint/bench rifle.

A very accurate solid platform. Savage has really paid attention to what shooters are looking for. Personally I dont like the Accutrigger but hey, thats just me and its a quick easy replacement with any other offering. Price wise they are incredible. as a platform to build from Savage/Stevens rifles are great.

I waited for a long time to buy a rifle. I looked at many models and brands. I was always told that Savage was crap. Savage's name kept coming up when I did research. After about a year, I ended up with one. I couldn't be happier. I wish I had the kind of money, where I could have one of the fine gunsmiths on this site make me a custom beauty. But out of a factory gun I got most of what I wanted. Most importantly, accuracy.

Well guys, that was one very well put together marketing video.... Have you ever seen Browning's? Or any of the other's?

I would say what matter's is where the bullets go.

Some very interesting concepts, but I'm not sure I really like the floating bolt head or the bedding rails. I think I prefer a lapped and trued bolt.

On the action rail bedding, it seems to me that when you troque your action screws it will want to pull the action down between the rails, pushing them outward. With a heavy recoiler like a RUM, it seems the action might work its way between the rails which would loosen the action screws eventually. Maybe not, but it looks possible from where I'm sitting.

Not slamming savages, a lot of guys seem to be very happy with them, but will they consistantly out shoot say a Sendero or Sub MOA Vanguard?

Those are indeed fine arms, but they are well more expensive than a Stevens 200 also. I would almost bet you that the average Stevens 200 will shoot as well as either of the mentioned rifles, straight out of the box. Plus they are quite easily upgraded by the common man to a lights out shooter for the cost of a barrel and maybe a barrel nut wrench and a vise. No need for all of the work on the barrel and action to true anything up either

And I do agree with you on the Accu-Stock too. I would prefer to have a fully bedded action, but again we are talking straight out of the box shooters here, not "customized" weapons

I like the idea of the rails, but I think they should be more like the full aluminum bedding blocks in the HS Precisions and B&C Medalists. Take that bedding block and run a channel down the middle and you have rails that are lower, clsoer together and not subject to being pushed apart.

actually yes they can and yes they do! last years f-class had a bone stock savage in the top 10
