If you have a Sierra and/or Speer Manual, could someone please lookup the .260 rem and tell me the test barrel length, and what is the highest velocity on max loads for 142gr SMK and 140gr Hotcor bullets?

What does Sierra recommend as the "accuracy" load?

Nosler shows a 24" 1:9 with N560 at 2830fps
Hornady shows a 24" 1:8 with all powders at 2700fps
Barnes shows a 24" 1:9 with no 140 class bullets:cool:
Strangely, the lapua/vihtavouri data lists a 18.75" 1:9 with N560 at 2586fps.
Hodgdon's site (no barrel data) 140 partitions & IMR7828 at 2755fps, 142 smk & H4831 at 2747fps

Bottom line, I've got a 26" #10mtu fluted barrel and 139 scenars on order, debating on dropping down to 24" to trim muzzle weight. Sitting in an A3-5 adjustable, I'm concerned about being muzzle heavy. I'll have to chat with the gunsmith tomorrow a.m...

LOADERS_LOFT, Sierra 142gr SMK, 24" 1 in 8 twist, max 2700 fps from loads as follows: Viht N540=39.2 next H380=41.5 next H414=42.5 next Viht N150=39.9 next Viht N550=41.0 next RE-19=44.5 Hope this helps

LOADER_LOFT, a little late here on the east coast but I'll check with a buddy of mine in the morning I think he may have a Speer manual.

Hodgdon's data for both bullet weights was obtained from a 1:9", 24" barrel.
