I'm having my .22-250 Remington re-barreled to .22-250 AI. I have two rotary case trimmers I no longer use - too much variation. I've switched to the Lee case length gauge trimmer and have these for everything I reload. Lee doesn't make a case length gauge trimmer for .22-250 AI. My books show a trimmed length of 1.902" for the Remington .22-250 and 1.900" trim length for the .22-250 AI. Do you guys think trimming at 1.902" using the Remington trimmer would be ok for the AI? I'm thinking consistency would be more important than the additional .002" in length.
Thanks

I have one other question and don't see the need to start a new thread. Why do all the .22-250 AI dies advertise a built in crimp? I never crimp my rifle ammo, except for my lever guns.

I trim to the original length in my rifle: 1.902", but the specs for the AI version are a max length of 1.892", so the trim length for this would be 1.882".
My chamber is at the original length of 1.912", and the brass takes a while to grow back to this length, it normally shortens on the first fire forming load.
All reloading dies of the standard type have a built in roll crimp, just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it!
I don't crimp anything smaller than my 416Rigby, even my 375Weatherby doesn't get crimped ammo!
If you follow the non crimp instructions, the crimp won't come into play, so don't worry about it!
