I plan on going to Wild Hill Outfitters in Fairlee, VT next fall for a fallow deer hunt. Anyone have any experiece hunting fallow deer or with this outfitter? I'm, for all intents and purposes, brand new to hunting.

Funny that I should see this post. I just came back from Wild Hill Preserve 2 days ago. I saw more fallow deer than Russian boar, which I was hunting.
Here is a Fallow Buck that came into an apple orchard
Most animals are fairly expensive to hunt (shoot) there, at least in my opinion. Other hunters were very happy to get there first opportunity to take a mature Buffalo or Red Stag. Both were taken while I was in the camp. They are running a deal on 2,000 lb. Asian Buffalo if you would like to hunt one before the winter sets in. Interesting place - I've got plenty of pictures if you're interested in seeing what the lodge looks like.

Bow hunted Russian Boar at Wildhill Preserves about ten years ago with a couple of friends. I was able to harvest a 275 lbs boar which was the smallest of the animals taken. My friends both used rifles and got themselfs each 325 & 340 lbs boars. The hospitalty was fantastic with three home cooked meals a day of anything you want. We stayed in the main house which sleeps up to 16 people and we were the only ones at camp that week, so we had plenty of room.
I will say the only thing I did not care for was, the guides take you out to your stand on 4 wheelers and you wait there until they come back to pick you up. Meanwhile they are out checking the feeders they have placed all over the property to find Boar. Then they come back to get you and take you to where they had just kicked them off the feeders. They might as well have brought me over to a pen and let me take my choice. They lead me to believe I was going to be hunting them and to me thats not hunting. I really wanted to HUNT them myself. We were there for 4 days and I had my Boar by 1:00 pm that first day and the so called hunt was over.
Don't get me wrong, Bill Richter is a fine man and has a lot of real nice animals on his property. It's just that I really wanted more of a challange. If it had been that way I would have gone back there by now.

Fallow deer are not that hard to put down. A 6mm to 7mm size calibre will do fine. The wild Boar is a harder animal to put down depending on how big it is.
I have shot heaps of Fallow and wild pigs, both are great hunting although Fallow when quiet and not hunted much, are easy to get a shot at. Pigs are always smart when under hunting pressure.

If you do decide to switch to hunting boar you won't be sorry you did. They are fantasic eating even better than I had been told before I went. They have a butcher if you want them to take care of packaging it for you but it is extra money plus tip. At the time the hunt was $720.00 and with butchering another $50.00 plus tip. They also deal with a guy out of NY state who offers taxidermy service. If the same guy is still doing it for Bill he does a great job. I was very satisfied with his work and I am VEERRRY fussy! I think he charged me $250 plus shipping. His rates my have gone up by now.
Anyways, they will put you on some decent boar but don't do like I did a take the first one you see unless it is over 300 lbs. The guides will be right along side you when your setting up for the shot. I would ask him what he feels the boar wieghs before hand and decide from there. They do have boar that run up to 500 lbs plus or at least they did when I was there. I think anything 500 plus is a little more money if I remember correctly.
