Shot my first Elk on Saturday. 401 yards with 338 Lapua 250gr accubond that retiained almost exactly half its original wieght and almost doubled in diameter. It was quartering away bullet hit a rib on the way in and stuck in the shoulder on the other side. The bull took one step and then fell.

Great harvest! Congrats! You're going to eat good for a while. I have a cow hunt in October (3rd choice in AZ, but wanted to get the wife on our first hunt together, so my 3rd pick was 100% draw rate) that I'm trying to work up a load for. Great job and sounds like a good shot too!
