Im looking for a range finder that goes to 1500 yrd's I have used the lica geovid, leo, and swor, they dont cut the mustard. I dont know what the prob is but here in hawaii I cant get any of them to go over 950 and thats after ranging many times. I need to know what are really the best, what do they use when I hear people getting ranges at 1500 to 2400. I dont even see advertisments for thoughs ranges.

I know you metioned that you have used the sworovksi's but i thought it was worth mentioning. yesterday I was sitting on the top of a ridge ranging opposite hillsides. with my swaro, i repeatadly ranged out to 1900. most of the clearings i ranged were from 1500-1900. The reason i bought this unit is because others told me that it would consistently range out to 1500. maybe yours was a dud? anyway, good luck.

I like my swaro.
I also had it go to 1800 but was not quick enough to take the picture before it cleared.

Repeatedly hit 1,982 yards with my Swaro in Alaska.

Gonna have to pile-on and go with the Swaro. This year I've seen two of them perform in bright sunshine well past 1k.
I think someone said it earlier....maybe yours has a problem.

Yesterday, I compared my Swarvo against my mates new Bushnell 1500.
The Swarvo was reading out past 1500 yards and the Bushnell would not read past 780 yards. We were both reading to the same points at the same time, late in the afternoon under ideal light conditions. His cost about a quarter of what mine cost.
A couple of points....... The Bushnell was reading 468 yards to a target on a sloping hillside while my Swarvo was reading 441 to the same target that was at a known distance of 441 yards. This leads me to believe that the Bushnell was aiming high and hitting the ground past the target some 27 yards further away. This could be a problem at longer ranges. As your shot would go high.
Another point...... rangefinders will vary the maximum distance that they can read depending on the reflective nature of the surface that they are pointed at. My Swarvo will read past 1600 yards on Gum tree leaves but not past 1000 yards on pine tree needles. The colour and composition of rocks and soil also seems to vary reflected laser signal. This may be your problem in the area where you live.

Save yourself the time and money and send back the Swaro to have it checked. If it's faulty, they'll replace it.
You have experienced people here giving you their opinion based on first hand product knowledge. They are telling you not to waste your money on the Newcon, and stick with the Swaro.
It's your money, spend it the way you want... good luck with your purchase.

If you can get your hands on a 1200 CRF Leica to try, I would recommend it. I carry two RF's now, the swaro and the leica. More and more I am learning that my leica will get it done. On game past 1000 they both need morning or evening light. If you need to range 1500 or more on game, you need something different than these two. Last night I was ranging a rock at 1283 yards and the sun was still pretty high. Swaro would not touch it. Leica did about once every 3 to 5 tries. It was spot on too, nailed the 14" circle I have painted on it..gun)
One more thing I have learned, it makes a huge difference if you rest the RF on bags or a tripod. I just can't hold them steady at longer ranges without a rest.
