Got back from NM just in time.

Woof tag is $11.50 good through 12/31

The 270 AM should be about perfect for such a critter.

The take allotment is 2 in my elk hunting area which includes my back yard. And yes there have been woofs there.

Maybe a Wolf forum otta be added to the big game list. The wolfs are being treated a big game, apparently.

Idaho is gonna make a million bucks on this deal. 11.50 X 40,000 tags (I'm not sure of the # of tags being sold) ought to finance a bunch of wild life management. I hope it turns out that way.

I bought my tag yesterday for Montana, looks like everything is still on but we'll see.
We are getting pounded by them, one friend lost 149 sheep rams and two calves last week alone.
I think the MT quota is way low but they have no clue the number of them, they can't even keep up with the ones they know about.
I think the long range guys will be the ones able to kill them on any kind of regular basis, some of the rancher here keep having guns built for longer and longer range as they learn real quick where your effective range is. I think that 270 AM would be a rockn long range wolf thumper.
I second a wolf forum if the season holds.

i just read about idaho wolf hunting today and 2 guys have already killed wolves. I believe i read that idaho has sold 10,000 tags already. but their quota is around 220 animals i believe.

Check your math. That's less than half a million, and "make" is pretty subjective.

The rumors are running deep and long........
Went on an archery hunt today. Just tagged along for the fun of it. No luck.....85*F in the mountains. Was hot and sweaty.

Son-in-law reported many wolves killed with one being in the 295 pound range.

I think he's full of hot air!

I checked the report moments ago and there may have been 3 killed.

Yep, they have sold 10,000 tags @ $11.50 ea. What will add up though, is the gas/diesel fuel for vehicles, ATVs and Snow mobiles. Plus the fast food places and all of the other stuff that goes into it. Any7 little bit to assist Idaho's economy is appreciated.

Tags are not gone, as far as I know...they are going to sell an unlimited number. They are just going to stop season when the quota is met. Tags can be had by non-residents in both Idaho ($186) and Montana ($350).

I'm figuring that the first couple of years will be training experiences for the woofs. They are pretty smart and learn quickly. After a couple of generations pass they will be tough for the average hunter to bag one.

That's where LRH comes in.

Idaho will sell tags until they run out of ink and paper.

The limit will be steady at 220 until they get a better count.

Wolves will be whene the easy pickin's are. The one seemingly very elderly woof that hung out in hte next canyon over from where were after elk a couple of years ago had eating only snow shoe hares. I also think he/it was a loner. Several times over the month the woofs tracks were over ours.

There were two, most probably a breeding pair, in the area behind the house. If they were breeding there should be more by now.

Also, one has been reported out in the lava rocks around the gun range.
