Do any of the sponsers on this site sell steel targets, either AR500 or Hardox 500 steel for long range shooting for a 338 RUM. The steel plate targets would need to be 12"X12" and 20"x20"

Give MGM targets a try a great product, you will have to google a search....
They are located in Caldwell Idaho. Phone 888-767-7371 ask for Travis or Mike
owners....

hi,
i got my steel plate from junk yard for 20$.
it is truck (rig trucks - volvo, etc) frame steel 11x18.
i shot my 338edge 300smk at 1024yrds and got just paint scratches. no dents, no perf, just paint scratches from bulet impact.
the steel in 3/8in thick, and i add another one 0.25in as backup. no need for the second plate. the 3/8 works great.

I went to a welder near my home. He had some R400. Worked good for a Lapua. It had a nice bullet imprint at 600yrds, but no denting of the steel. Makes a nice smack noise also. Cost my cousin and I $55 to weld some hooks on it, and weld chain to an existing frame I had made a few years back.

Tank

I work for a trucking company and i make my own from broken truck and trailer springs. i just weld them together until i get the size i want. just a lead spot even at 100 yards from 308 and 30-06. makes a very audible ringing also.
