338 Rum dies primers and powder

Ok shooting a 338 rum XCR remington shoots great with factory 225 accubonds
time to reload for it which redding dies shoud i go with
which powders and primers for the 225 accubonds and anything else i shoud pay attention to
what is a good depth to seat to and any load suggestions

My lss loves H1000 and Fed210M or 215M primers.

I seat mine to have about .015"-.020" clearance in the magazine.

It also liked Retumbo, but the H1000 was just a touch more accurate.

The 225 NAB are the only bullets I've shot. Tempted to try the 250's when my 225's are gone.

I'm also using a plane jane RCBS die set.

I went with the 3 die Competition set with the Bushing Neck Sizer, Body Die and Seater

MidwayUSA - Redding Competition Bushing 3-Die Neck Sizer Set 338 Remington Ultra Magnum

As far as loads go, I have only worked with RL25 and the 225 gr TTSX with Fed215 primers and it is shooting good

I have backed down from this load cause I was loosing brass to loose primer pockets even though it is listed in the Nosler book as max load

There are several powders in the Nosler manual where 3020 fps would be at or below the velocity for the minimum load

RL22 - minimum 87 gr, 3070 fps, maxium 91 gr, 3160 fps
H1000 - minumum 96 gr, 3030 fps, maximum 100 gr, 3125 fps
RL25 - minimum 94 gr, 3131 fps, maximum 98 gr, 3227 fps

and loading a high capacity case below minimum has dangers of secondary explosion effects. All of the powders listed have a maximum velocity listing above 3100 fps except for one and it is at 3095 fps. So, EXPECT to have velocity more than 3020 fps.

My 338 Rum shoots 250 SMK at about 3/4" using 97.5 grns of H-1000.

However, my Rum shoots 225 Barnes TTSX at 1/4" to 1/2" All day using 84.5 Grns of Retumbo. I use Fed 215 M Primers. I use the 250 SMK's for the BC

Thanks for the replies and the Redding comp dies i like but can i do without spending over 200 for dies was thinking 100 or just do it? what is the overall length on the H1000 doing 3030 with the 225 accubond

ok it looks like i will go with the Redding comp dies would someone walk me thru the reloading process as its been 8 years since i brought out the dillion 550 thanks also i want to be close enough to the Federal Vital Shock 225 AB at 3020fps so i dont have to resight my rifle because i cannot find it everyone is on backorder

I am shooting 97 gr of RL25 with a 225 NAB velocity is around 3250 through a 27.5 broughton barrel. My OAL just shy of max for magazine, (I would have to check my notes for actual number) Gun also shoots well with H-1000, but max velocity is lower. 100 grns of H-1000 should put you where you want, load to factory length first and then start moving towards the rifling.
