Howdy,
Getting back into hunting after a 30 year hiatus, recently bought a Tikka T3 Lite in 7mm-08, wears a Zeiss 3x9x40 conquest. I will be hunting this doggedly difficult San Diego region, these mule deer bucks I am convinced
have gone nocturnal extreme. Can't blame them there isn't hardly a place in D16 zone that doesn't have a road every mile. Anyway, hope to get the most out of the 7mm-08 hope to learn here.

howdy, best bets on using that 7mm08 on a large mulie is area 12 down by colorado river, there is some 36" plus monsters but few and far between.backside of julian and san felipe out back side of lake henshaw are you best bets good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome, can't wait to put in for draws next year, maybe I can still find an over the counter tag out of State for some big game this season anyway.
Watched three does at dusk 600 yards out yestrday cautiously sneak down the hillside, couldn't see their buck anywhere. Once I get better optics that buck may show up, right now using cheapy 8x bushnells.

Welcome to Long Range Hunting. Good luck with the mulies. Big game and roads don't mix too well.
I agree this is the problem with Southern California D16 these deer here are hypervigilant due to pressures of all types. I am convinced the bucks here are 100%
nocturnal year round.
