So when I fist go into LR shooing i decided to have Kreiger do all the work on my first build. I was just wandeing if anyone here had any experence with the gunsmiths that work there/had a gun built by them yourself or so on... I realize that this question should have been ask before I placed the order but what the heck....Im in the last few weeks and getting excited about geting the rifle. The "extra" work they are doing is: fitting the barrel to the acion, level two trueing on the action. oversized recoil lug, glass bedding the stock(hs presision) bead blasted the barrel and action, and installed a dave holland radial muzzle brake.

I have a 338 RUM on a Rem 700 action built by Krieger. Fit and finish is great, but I'm just starting load development so I don't have any real results yet.

If you don't mind me
asking what all did you have them do for you?

I sent a rem 700 7RUM barreled action and they built a fluted #5 Stainless 338 RUM barrel. Did the whole deal - truing the action, lap bolt lugs, oversize recoil lug, satin bead blast, etc. I've tried a couple of loads with 225 Accubonds and getting 1 moa so far. Heading to the range again tonight. They did not do any of the stock work.

Sounds like you are having the same work done that I had, with exception to the stock work.

I am very pleased with the results. Very tight, headspaced very well and shoots like a dream. If I do another build, I would not hesitate having them do it again (with a rifle that I already own...bought a new 700 just for the build... I could have bought a custom action by the time it was all said and done with.)

I hope that you are equally please with your build. Let us know when it comes in and how it shoots.

I saw on another thread where you were asking about adding weight to a hs stock...is that on this gun? Did you have it skim bedded somewhere else or just worry about it since it had a bedding block already in it

Yes, the one from the other thread is the one from krieger, but I have three rifles with HS stocks and I have done the bedding work on them. HS says that they do not need to be bedded, but my experience has indicated otherwise. Ususally the rear tang is fine or close to fine, but the front part of the bedding block is off. None of them made good contact. In fact, only the outside lip of the bedding block would mate up with the action. Hence the skim bedding. Honestly,I haven't noticed any huge difference in accuracy potential, none of my rifles are benchrest guns, but at least I feel better and the action is more stress free.
