Bullet seating mistake

I recently realized I made a mistake in finding OAL in my 7 mag. What I thought was right at the lands is really 0.050" away.

My situation is this:

I've loaded 12 rounds at what turns out to be 0.050" away from the lands. What effect will pulling the bullets and seating at the lands (adding 0.050" to my current loads) have on pressure?

Depends on how long ago the bullets were seated.
If you seated yesterday, you'll feel about the same tension on reseating, and pressure will run with the rest of your ammo. This, provided there was no shaving of the bullet on pulling.
If the offending ammo was made awhile ago(a week or more), I'd resize the necks and wait a day before reseating. It won't hurt anything.

It probably sounds weird, but I find that brass relaxes a bit over time. Neck tension drops a bit, bodies un-size a little, bumps un-bump a little, and primers creep outward 1-2thou in a week after loading.

Now, not to generalize your problem, this may be an opportunity to find out how the gun shoots at that setting. You never know man..

I wouldn't pull them. Often no matter what kind of puller you use it will make marks on the bullet. I'd probably run em too and see how they shot if it is not a near maximum load. With that said, If your worried about pressure, pull them, and replace them with new ones at the right seating depth. You may could even reseat the ones you pulled and use them as fouler shots. I wouldn't use a bullet I pulled for accuracy testing or game.

You can pull them with an impact puller without marks or damage.

But why do you want to see a 7mm Mag sporting rifle in the lands anyway? It WILL raise pressures at least a little and it rarely does anything good for accuracy. In fact, you might get better accuracy seating even deeper!

With only 12 rounds seated, why not seat half of them .025" deeper, then load a half dozen more at the lands and test all three loads. Bet the ones seated at the lands will be less accurate!

I've just started playing with seating depths lately and I'm finding I'm getting tighter groups seated at around 50 thousands off the lands.I really couldn't see any difference in velocity or noticed any change in pressure signs on my cases.The only way I'd think it would be a problem would be if the load was at shear max.If that was the case you would be wise to back down a little anyway.I'd say,if your not shooting over max charges,compare how they shoot,you might like them better.
