Possible POSITIVE error on my Nikon 4-16x50

I messed up when I said clicks I meant full MOA, I am new to MOA and I used the wrong terminology, when you read the post you will understand

I just eye bore sighted my rifle at approx 25-30 yds to get the crosshairs to match up with my bore at a specific target. Nikons website states this scope has 40 MOA internal adjustment but after going through all the clicks I had after eye sighting I have an additional 44 clicks up elevation to shoot at further targets and an additional 15 clicks down elevation which brings me closer to 60 MOA elevation. I would imagine that is a good thing right or did I possibly do something wrong. I have not tested the windage adjustment to see if it the same. Have companies been known to make errors like this before. I DID buy my scope from a reputable Nikon dealer. This is from Nikons website. If this is a mistake on their part I am very happy. What kind of range can I get with a 7mm rem mag 140g TSX with 43+- MOA

I'm not sure I am understanding you correctly. 44 up plus the 15 down equals 59 "clicks" at 1/4" per click or 1/4 moa per click this is only 59/4= 14.74" or MOA of adjustment, total! Something's not right here either you counted clicks wrong or that scope has very limited adjustment.
 
Welcome to the world of mounting scopes and thinking that everything lines up just exactly like the mftr says.:)

If you have that many MOA up and still going down. Get to 100 or 200 and zero and forget it.

I set my boresighted turret at zero, I then turned the turret counter clockwise I hit the zero 3 times = 36 full minutes and was able to go 8 more full minutes = 44. I returned back to site in zero, then turned the turret clockwise which went 1 full revolution of 12 whole minutes plus 3 whole minutes = 15. 44+15= 59, isn't that 59 full MOA?

Bounty do you mean sight in at 100 or 200 yds and forget it or can I still shoot further with the amount of minutes I have.
 
Just sight in at 100yds or 200yds and then count how much elevation you have left in your scope.

With a 200yd zero, my 7mm RM with 160AB's requires only 14.75moa to get to 800yds at 7800ft altitude.

Thank you everyone for your help. Does it sound weird that I have 20 extra MOA when I was originally only supposed to have 40?

The important number is how much elevation you have left after you zero the rifle. If you zero at 200yds and have 20moa left, you are good to go with the 7mm RM (for big game hunting).

I was probably going to zero at 100 only because the range that I go to only goes to 100, if I sighted correctly at 25-30 yds theoretically where would i be at 100

With the 140TSX, you'll probably be able to get around 3200fps. Sighted in at 100yds, 18moa will get you to 800 (depending on elevation).

Sighted in at 25yds will put you 3" low at 100yds.

I believe my elevation is 685ft. If I was a little further say 30-35yds where would i be at 100? Would I be higher or lower? This is my first manual boresight so I am trying to learn a few thing as I go

Just try to get it 1" high at 25yds and you should be on a large target at 100yds.

All you are trying to do with bore sighting is get onto the backstop so you know how much and which way to adjust the scope.

Ah that explains it huge difference between clicks and MOA.:) That being the case I would say you should be good to go with that much "up" adjustment left. Good luck with your project.
