I may of found where all of the primers went

Boy that burns me!!! I've been trying to get some BR2's for about 3 months now and these A-0's are selling them for $80 + shipping (that puts them up past $100 after fees). What a bunch of crap. Should compile a list of sellers and black list them all!

britz,
Why are you upset. This is the capital system at work. First of all, we do not know when those primers were purchased. They could have been sitting on them for a long time, and saw the price increases, and started listing them at what ever the market will bare. This looks to me to be a business, selling marketable goods. I think there are better places to target our outrage. I chose not to support their business, but will not hold them in contempt for what they are doing either.

they're free to ask any price for anything... so long as we're free to say no...

hoarding is reprehensible, but if no one buys from them, they're stuck...

it'll all work out just right...

Do you really believe that they were holding on to them for a while??? actually the proof is in the packaging. The primers I was talking about came in an all black package which CCI switched to in the last couple years... true it is possible that they were bought prior to the big shortage, but HIGHLY unlikely.

I believe in the law of supply and demand... but many out there were buying up primers to sell on the internet. It is no different than contractors who charge more for the same work because they know that the competition is busy... it is legal, it happens all the time, but I don't have to like it. It is IMO not a good business practice.

I understand your frustration, britz.
Maybe look at buying a small amount to hold you over until your backorder is filled. In the big scheme of things, would paying $1.00 a primer for a small amount of what you need to keep going break the bank. Or is it the principal of the matter. If it is the principal of the matter, by all means stick to your guns. If I had what you were looking for I would be more than happy to help you out.

I appreciate the sentiment. The truth is I have enough for a couple months yet as long as I don't go varmint hunting. Your right, I am just frustrated.

Trueblue, the true definition for capitalism/supply/demand does NOT include breaking the law. Lets not forget that primer storage (> 10,000 primers) of this magnitude is ILLEGAL in a residence and dangerous. Primer hoarding ****es me off too, but more importantly, it gives the anti-gunners additional ammunition (pun intended) to shut everyone down. Can't quite call yourself a law abiding gun owner if you are breaking the law now can you???.

That "montanabargains" guy should be horse whipped for hoarding and scalping primers like this.

Looks like he has a stack of 9 cases of Fed 205s, among others, in his photo!

I had a hellofa time scrounging enough primers for PD hunting this year, and couldn't find any new 220 swift brass at all...zero, nada, zip! Next year, who knows?

nheninge,
I don't quite understand where you are coming from with this " illegal statement". From the ad on Gunbroker it seems to me the seller is a business entity, lisenced to sell and ship primers, unlike regular civilians. I don't see where the 10,000 primer storage rule even comes into effect, if it even is a rule.
As far as " hoarding giving anti gunners ammnuniton to shut everyone down", please explain that statement, as it makes absolutely no sense to me.
If you are so concerned about this seller breaking the law, why don't you call him up to discuss it. The phone # is posted in the sellers ad.

I am fairly confident that in the next few months primers will become more available again. It is sad that I am thinking about my primer supply when I go target shooting! I only shoot a few hundred rounds a year. It used to be so simple to go get more supplies. I finally did get a few hundred rounds worth of powder for my 300wsm, different lots and mixed it so I should have a good consistent supply for it for a year or a little better.

The link appears to be offline now so if you want to see a picture of the gross hoarding, just search "montanabargains" as a seller on gunbroker. Call him and give him a piece of your mind! Just over a "million primers in stock" by his description.
