Does anyone know of a aluminum or otherwise light weight tactical style bolt handle for a savage????? I am fixing to dura coat my new light weight 270AM and i am wanting something lighter than the chunk of steel that used to hang off of it.

thanks
steve

Kevin Rayhill makes a replacement handle thats a little longer and not as big as the factory unit. But I would just put a badger bolt knob on it or something similar. Nate Dagley "308Nate" here makes his own knobs and installs them pretty reasonably you could shoot him a call and discuss what you want.

I though that big chuck of steel was Savages attempt at a self closing bolt. Let Nate work on it before you do something crazy like I did.

Maybe I should thead it and ad a flashlight or laser sight.

Nate has already been employed for the job but you do get points on creatitivity!!! Once i get the rifle back and painted i will post the whole painful tale for everyone one to read

thanks

Kevin Rayhill at Stockade offers two different size bolt handles.

If one tries to turn down a factory handle often a hole of perosity is found in the center.

Many of the aftermarket bolthandles for a Savage are made of compressed powdered metal. "investment cast"

Good luck

I like the look and feel of the Sharp Shooter Supply tactical handles better than the Stockade/Rayhill handles.

I also have one made by a guy on Savage Shooters. He puts on a aluminum knob. He will turn/knurl it any way you want. He doesn't charge much either.

Here's some of his knobs.
