remmy 308 stock

Is there any sort of bedding or tightening up of the SPS stock. I know it is an entry level stock for this gun. I purchased with the strong expectation I may need to purchase a second stock for it.
However are there any trick that can be done to improve the SPS stock.
I have the remington 700 sps tactical any 308. Any advise appreciated.

I have the same rifle as you. Actually I have two...one in .308 and the other in .223. In the past my .280 originally wore a synthetic remington stock. They are all junk and not worth any investment to try to improve them. You are better off spending your money on a new aftermarket stock. There are many to choose from. You can spend as little at $100 for a Hogue and $500 ror a McMillan and any price in between.

That is what I thought I would need to do before I purchased the gun. I read the stock was the place where remington saved money on the gun. Very crisp trigger though.

I have trouble calling it a stock because it has none of the things that a stock should
have.( Looks,strength,stability,feel ECT, ECT).

Thats why I refer to them as a tupper ware handle.

Although some of the guys on this site have made them shoot by reenforcing them to make
it stronger, But that takes hours of work and you still have an ulgy handle for your rifle.

The only good thing about the SPS it made a good action available for less than you could
buy just the action (No bottom metal with the action or trigger for $400.oo) And if you were
lucky it would shoot with a good stock.

You can find a good laminate stock for less than $200.oo that feels good ,shoots good and
looks good.

Just my opinion for what it's worth

Sweet, Thanks for the info. I definitly bought with plans to build on the action and start with a good scope and stock.
Where do you recommend looking for synthetic stocks.
