The crosshairs SHOULD stay throughout the magnification range. Other points on the crosshairs (other markings, thick/thin spots etc) will likely move with magnification changes, unless the scope is a first focal plane scope (FFP), in which case the marks will stay in the same place on the target throughout magnification changes.
Hope that made sense. BTW: most scopes are second focal plane scopes (other than some very expensive scopes)
