I have read alot about the 300rum and the 7mm rum being hard on barrels. How is the 338rum on barrels?

Michele Eichele - nice post on the 300rum - great info

As the bore gets bigger the longer the barrel life will be. All other things being equal.

The 300 will have a longer life than the 7mm. The 338 will last longer than the 300.

The 338 also has a smaller case, so it burns the barrel that much slower.

Barrel life is very good on the 338 rum as long as you don't load over max loads.

velocities are normaly under 3300 or 3400 ft/sec and with the larger bore there is more
land and grove surface for better wear.
