.338 Lapua help

I need to know if any of you have had any luck with IMR 7828ssc with a 250 gr sceener or 250 gr SMK. Tried H1000 with very poor results. I know h4831 sc would be better but I can not find any. The rile is a AI AW 338 w/26'' 1/10 twist.


Also has anybody tried a test to see if there is a difference between regular primers and match. I have thousands of regular mag primers but ever since the rifle came I cant find any M primers.

What do you mean by very poor results?

7828 should work as would Retumbo, R-25 as well as other powders in this burn rate, even 4831, etc.

Judging from my experience only I'd say if H-1000 doesn't work with 250 or 300 SMKs I'd be looking at the barrel.

Every shot through a chronograph was 50fps greater as the barrel warmed. No doubt it would group well if you wanted to wait 10 minutes between shots. I stopped at 97.5 grains with about 3000fps.the groups had a vertical spread of 1'' at 100 but with factory ammo they are 1 hole. Ive seen a lot of people complaining of the same problem with h1000 and they all switch to 4831 but I can not find any.

Never experienced nor heard of that problem with H-1000 in fact it is probably the most used powder choice in the 338 Edge and Lapua. Not the fastest velocity choice but a very consistent powder with low SD & ES

I use 92.5gr H1000 under the 250gr bullet.

Retumbo, RL22, RL25, IMR4350 give good results out of my PGWDTI Timberwolf.

I forgot to add that N165 was too snappy and the barrel heated faster.

i use lapua brass trimmed to 2.714 with a remington 91/2 mag primers
91g of retumbo under a 250g smk seated at 3.600 shoots in 1 hole at 100 yards with a LE savage 110ba 338 Lm as long as i do my part..
i found this by load testing once i found it i dont care for any other.. as long as i can find retumbo and 250g smk's i want lok for another load..it shoots better than me so i dont need to test no more..lol..when i go longer if i need to try something else i will but until then im a happy shooter
