howdy, anybody out there know if accumark wtby in 30-378 can be turned into a good long range rifle. this is my first posting in longrange hunting .com im here in post falls idaho.

I don't know why not. Mine likes the 210 Bergers and with a good scope you should be fine. But then it depends on what you call "Long Range" ?

Im thinking 500yds to 850yds. ive been using my 338 win mag out to 600yds but thats the absolute limit for elk with this rifle. what would you suggest for work on my new Wtby? what kind of glass is that you have on yours?

I have two 30-378's and they both shoot 210 Bergers on top of 98 gr of H-1000 very well. Out of a 26" accumark that will be in the 3050 range for velocity. I would have it bedded and floated and the trigger spring changed so you can get below 3#. I have Leupold Dual Dovetail rings on the one pictured, but I would rather have a good rail base with 20 or 40 MOA and a set of Nightforce rings. The scope on this one is a 3.5x15x56 Nightforce NXS. If you set one up like this and it will shoot a sub moa group at 300 with your hand loads, I would think anything out to 1000 yards would be in trouble after you practise and work up your drop charts.

I have never used one so I really can't say. But I can tell you I love the NF's. Shawn can fix you up you are lucky to be close to him.
