Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

I saw my gunsmith at the gunshow a week ago and he had a boat load of em for 40 bucks a thousand...........................

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

I was at Harrisburg and saw two boxes out of all the dealers there. Did they have any small rifle as I will buy them. I have called three of the larger ammo/reloading shops and they all say the same. They are not being sent any new and two have stopped selling retail.

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

Nope i believe they were all LR and LRM but Ill see him here soon and can let you know..........................gun)

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

You got the prong and now your trying to pass it along?

You do know that there are some pretty hefty fines for shipping expolsives illegally don't you? Unless you are liscensed I would suggest that you not try shipping those. I think the fine runs to the tune of 100k per package.

There are primers out there but you have to get lucky and find them. I have friends who have gotten primers from some of the regular sources that do not gouge. I found remington LR primers in stock just the other night for 32 per K.

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

Shame on you, Cafsman!

Leave that crap for ebay and/or GunBroker!!

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

They can be shipped through my FFL and we pay a hazmat fee. Everyone thinks I am trying to profit and if they do not sell I will be happy to keep them. I would like to see where all these primers that are supposedly available are. Midway Supply is out. One of you PM'd me to say they could get all they wanted at Graf & Son (never heard of them). Well boys and girls, here you go.

Graf & Sons - Small Rifle
Graf & Sons - Large Rifle

Now, here is a link to a post on this forum not done by me. So before you judge someone, I suggest you look at all of the facts.

Shame on you Topwater for posting without knowing the facts!

OK

I went to four Gander Mountain Stores. No primers except for shotgun.

One who replied to this post says they are available at Cabelas:

Here you go:

Cabela's -- Backorder Alert

Cabela's -- Backorder Alert

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe he speaks the truth????

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

This is another example of the "longrangehunting.com conspiracy theorists" jumping the gun and crucifying someone who is only trying to help.

Seems that most ASSUMED that he was going to do something illegal or try to gouge folks....

Heck he is only trying to break even on the purchase.....

If you can't afford it, then don't crucify him for being willing to sell part of his stash during a "primer drought".

For all you guys that think that breaking even is for the birds, take you stash of primers to the local gun shop who is qualified to ship hazmat and sell them to me. I will pay for them as well as the hazmat..... Now, I am only looking for 100,000 Federal match grade primers and I don't want to pay more than you paid. I am sure there will be no takers since this is an absolutely ridiculous idea. But that is what the above posts suggested.

This is another one for the welcoming comminttee.

Thanks Lightvarmint

I do not think anybody read the first part of my post where I told them what I spent. Perhaps some with judge it as me paying too much. Well, when you need them in a hurry and a guy is willing to part with what he had (at a healthy profit I am sure) then so be it.

I wonder how many of the "peanut gallery" really have done some checking to see how bad this situation is. In my area of Illinois I have one of the largest retail gun sellers in the state. No small rifle primers for 7 weeks and down to two boxes of large rifle primers which were on hold. Cabelas - both large and small rifle primers on back order. Midway - same story.

Now, if we take a deep breath and think about it..............what happens when the major players cannot get the supply? Draw your own conclusion. I only know I can still reload a lot cheaper than what I can pay for factory ammo in the quantities I will be using.

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

The facts are:

1. Most of us that are reloading are desperate and vulnerable as primers are becoming extinct
2. You were Price Gouged
3. You are price gouging on this site

Those are the only facts that I need to know.

As stated most of us reloaders are desperate for components (especially primers), and because of such, someone will bite on your offer, but that certainly doesn't make it right!

Re: WTS ** Federal Large Rifle Primers 210 **

Topwater

You got me. I do not know what I will do with the windfall profit of $10 per box. Let see........... I drove 38 miles one way to purchase these from the only shop I could find after two days of calling and emailing. So, if I am "lucky" and can "gouge" three honest people that have an immediate need for primers and could not find them (like me), I would have made $30.

I figure I have spent nearly twenty hours of research, $10 for gas, so that leaves me an overwhelming "profit" of $20. Or, if you are not good at math (or economic rules of supply and demand) I will have made $1/hr. (that does not count my time replying to your "charges" of gouging).

Like several have already said, if they are too expensive, don't buy them. If someone ran your puppy over when you were six, don't take it out on someone you do not know or know anything about. I know I paid a "premium" price and accepted the fact. Was I happy? Yes, and no. Yes, because I found what I need in time to get my reloading needs taken care of. No, because I really wanted to pay $10/ 1000. That way I could perhaps offer them to the others that complained of my gouging for $15 a box! Mankind, what I could do with $5 profit!!!!!!

TW,

--If you are vulnerable, you put yourself in that position due to poor planning and lack of foresight. Heck, looking at the tea leaves during the election process and remembering what happened when Clinton got elected should have shed some light on the future of ammo and components..... This is the second time it has been around in 20 years with little to no inventory. That is exactly why just prior to the election, I ordered and received 70,000 primers. I planned ahead and now I have enough for a few years. I even have some on backorder to increase my inventory..... I just do not want to have all the shooting sticks that I have accumulated without having the compoents with which to enjoy them. More than occassional shooters and competitors tend to keep an inventory supply of bullets, brass, powder and primers on hand. They usually never let the inventory fall below enough for a a years worth of shooting.

--Back in the 1990s us benchrest shooters saw the exact same thing with the good PPC brass. When you got a gun built it usually came with 40 pieces of brass and a warning from the smith to "treat them like gold".

--He may have been charged more than normal, but for business, it is strickly supply and demand. Especially if they are closing. If the the supply sells then the price was acceptable and if it sits on the shelf, price adjustments usually clear the shelves......

--He is not gouging anyone. He is just offering them while covering expenses. Hard to gouge someone when you are making zero profit. I would hardly expect him to sell them for less than he paid just to get rid of them during this drought of primers..... That just would not make any sense at all.

If you think the gouging is going on now, just wait until the prices increase from the manufacturer later this year...... That is why most dealers are not taking backorders at this time..... The big eye opener is just around the corner.

Get the components while you can.
