Any one have thoughts on the savage 4x4

I was just thinking about buying a 204 ruger and i came across the 4x4 with a 20 inch barrel.


Anyone have thoughts about it?

Will the 20 inch barrel hurt it ballisticly?

I'm thinking about buying one to pull double duty on coyotes and prairie dogs.

Really just a 20" 223 or 204 ..a special run a few yrs back for JSC's.....great truck gun....the 204 will lose some velocity with a 20" tube...I'd be more concerned with the muzzle blast w/o muffs...

The muzzle blast is a non issue.

I was just currious about the ballistics? Do you think it will seriously hurt this cartridge?

yes it dose hurt the 204 i had a ruger no 1 with 20in barrel and it always shoot 150-200 fps slower withe the same loads than my remington sps in 204
lower fps =drops faster!

Thanks for the replys fellas! I think i've made up my mind.I cant see the piont of getting one if it's gonna slow it down.
