McRee All-Aluminum stock on XP-100

Finally got a scope mounted on 6mm-6.5x47 Lapua XP.
Scott McRee is now making his modular stocks for a number of specialty handguns, as well as rifles. Four screws and you can easily change out a number of forends from the 3" wide one pictured to 1.5" ones for field use. I have one of those as well. Any grip made for an AR-15 will work with this design. Scope is the Sightron S-3 6-24 plex reticle. Another scope in the pics that has just been mounted is the new NightForce first focal plane 3.5-15 (MLR reticle).
Will soon have a grip with a connected bag-bar for BR shooting-I have witnessed another one in action last year and it tracked like a dream.
If you have a rifle the buttstock is connected with four bolts as well and is foldable and fully adjustablelightbulb

These pistols really confuse me! I thought a pistol was a short, light firearm, but I could even understand the whole Contender idea, with a pistol shooting a rifle cartridge.

But I can't figure out the idea behind spending hundreds, (or thousands) of dollars to have a rifle without a stock. I mean, this pistol, as cool as it looks, is essentially a Benchrest rifle, with all the benefits and drawbacks to the benchrest rifle, and the additional drawback of not having a stock.

It is obviously set up to shoot targets, not game, though I guess it could be used to shoot Prairie Dogs set up like it is. Last time I looked, though, the guys trying to be really accurate were all shooting rifles, and all the records belong to rifles!

I can CERTAINLY understand the need to have something different! I shoot a 6.5 Grendel and have a Hart barreled 7mm WSM on the way. But how does that work for these pistols? Using a short eye relief rifle scope like the NF, Sightron, etc. it seems like a guaranteed brow buster!!

Help me understand!!!

Yes, I use riflescopes with my center-grip XP without hesitation, even my 7mm Dakota.
Why use specialty handguns?
The reasons are many, but for me I like the challenge, they are fun and accurate.
Rifles got boring for me back in the 80's and I have liked handguns of all kinds.
Another reason for using these types of handguns which (I agree) are essentially BR/tactical rigs with out a buttstock is simply becasue I want too.
With a change of the forend I will definitely hunt game with this setup.
If I intend to do off-hand hunting of any kind I would use a center-grip or a short barreld lighter weight rear-grip specialty pistol.

As far as records go, I don't expect to be setting records at a 1K rifle match. I enjoy seeing how accurate I can be using a specialty handgun in comparison to what rifles are doing though

Another reason we got into this SP stuff was the portability issue. We were backpack hunters, and still r. It just expanded from that point.

When it comes to records tho, as far as we know Ernie has the longest handgun shot ever made on game (prairie dog) @ 1590 yds. on the 9th shot.
