Have a chance to buy a beautiful Deluxe (New Model, Made in Sheridan, Wyoming) in this caliber. I know ammo, brass is hard to find and expensive, but it will be a gently used hunting rifle. I will reload.

I know it's "another" super duper 6.5 speedwhiz BUT It looks good on paper. Any One here shoot one? How do you like it? Easy to load for? Killer

Okay Weatherby haters you can participate too
grin

I would look at a 6.5 PRC but I love this particular rifle.

Seems you know what you want. You don't have to justify it. If you have the means and know what you want, just do it and don't think twice.

Just buy it. Worst case scenario you spend a few hundred more later to have it rebarreled to something else.

If you're not already a BEE owner you wont be disappointed!!!

I have one in a Backcountry. Have only shot it at the range to sight in, but it's a shooter. I don't reload, but my friend uses 140 Nosler Partitions and is happy with his. In the big picture, the ammo is a bit more expensive, but not that much more than some other calibers.

Well and it's not like one uses these for high round count plinking either. If it's a dedicated hunting rifle the price of ammo is hardly the most costly aspect of a hunt regardless (especially with the price of gas these days!…gas is honestly the most expensive aspect of my hunting this year I think)

If you haven't bought it, I'd continue to ask around to see if anyone who has bought one has had any issues. I say this because my buddy ordered one from Weatherby and waited 6 months to get it. He was super excited to get this rifle. Unfortunately, he has had nothing but problems with it. Wouldn't chamber rounds, called Weatherby several times regarding the issues he had with it. Weatherby gave him the run around and then eventually said they would take the gun back to see what the issue was. They ended up re-reaming the throat of the barrel without contacting him to discuss what they had found, etc.. Once he got it back, it won't even shoot the sub MOA guaranty that they say they will. He took it to a gunsmith and the gunsmith told him that the barrel was reamed way out of whack and that is why he is having issues. Weatherby at this point, has told him that he can send it in again and they will continue to look to see about fixing the issue or he can take it to a gunsmith and have them rebarrrel the gun on his own dime.

Lot of money spent on this rifle and he is a little upset to say the least. Wishes he'd just spent that money going towards a custom built gun.

Not trying to talk you out of it, but just wanted to fill you in on what I was told from my buddy and the vibe he got from Weatherby after dealing with their warranty department.

Best of luck on which ever direction you decide to go..

I just had a custom built in this caliber. Waiting to get my REM mod 700 bolt back with a M16 style extractor installed. Action trued , McMillan strock, Trigger tech trigger, Cannot remember the brand of the bottom metal and a Bartlien 8 twist, Mini Bastard brake. I'll be on the range this weekend. You can buy once fired brass form weatherby ..but the price has jumped a lot. I got mine for $20 a box and they are now $60 if you order from Weatherby. Sportsmans Warehouse had a few boxes of new brass but loaded ammo was only $20 more. So I bought one box for a test fire by the gunsmith.
