This you tube video I was told has been re-routed through Canada. It was said to be removed from view for US you tube viewers. I don't know if it's true but is interesting non the less.

if they knew it was such a problem, why didnt they bring the bill and fight for the votes instead of just turning their shoulders? Giving up on something they believed to be so serious is crazy. i say everyone in office during the past decade is to blame. the signs were there, they should have heeded the warnings, democrats and republicans alike.

Republicans hated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for a long time, since it was a quasi government run company with little oversight, and a huge stake in the mortgage market. The Republicans tried in 2001, 2002, and 2005 (McCain) to pass legislation aimed at providing stricter oversight of those institutions, but the Democrats blocked it. The Democrats used Mae/Mac as their way of providing low cost loans to various groups, and they vigorously defended it.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why McCain didn't hammer this home during his campaign since he tried to pass legislation aimed at reigning these *** companies in.

The most obvious answer is that it wouldn't have been a winner for him. He and other Republicans probably had their fair share of the blame also, so he didn't dare try to use the argument to his advantage - only to have his own dirty laundry aired.

The Dems would have played the race card against him if he had pushed it harder, they would have claimed that he was against Fanny/Freddy because it helped minorities. The media would have joined in and it wouldn't have received any traction. The fact is, the Repubs talked about this for 2 years prior to the election, I heard it, saw it and read about it. The media ignored it because they are so Dem leaning. As long as the media is in control of the masses in this country and are Dem leaning, we are in trouble.

Show me. Show me where his and other repubs efforts to slow down the problem early would be classified as 'dirty laundry'. Show me! Don't just throw something like that out there without anything to back it up, we all know who you supported.

Just add some proof that would outweigh the efforts the repubs made to stop the crisis before it blew up. Every effort was opposed by the dems.

Just show me!

I don't owe it to myself or you to research this in order to demonstrate the folly of your ways. I'm not going to. Better things to do with my life. phorwath]

My my. Getting a tad excited are we AJ? Suffering from some winter blues? I'm really glad I posted..., but mostly for your sake. It looks like I gave you a reason to come back to life today. To take up the cause.

I will offer the obvious: Isn't it a no-brainer that if McCain shared no blame, that he would have used this sure-kill winner (from your ultimate perspective) to his advantage? Or was he, and the Republic party at large, just too plain stupid to take advantage of a gimme situation at a time when the financial system and the U.S. economy was splitting apart at all seams?

I'm holding my breath, in suspense, awaiting THEE response.

I think all posts in General Discussion forum should pertain to long range hunting. Thats why we're here, to discuss LRH, not to watch some fag Senator on a recycled utoob Fox News story that the whole country saw when it was FIRST broadcast on tv. If I moderated this site it would be 100% LRH, but I dont so it aint and it's starting to suck because of crap like this.

Easy now silvertip-co. There's no need to go on the attack. Surly there's better things in life to get bent out of shape over.:)
