I am ready to buy the swarovski range finder, have read all of the old posts. My questions are is this still the best range finding tool beyond 1000yards and priced almost reasonable @ below $1000? And most importantly does anyone have a used one for sale, or where is the best/cheapest place to buy one? Thanks!

It is starting to feel like spring here in Oregon and we're dreaming of spring bears!

Mine just went in for repairs. It may be for sale but I will not know till it returns and I field test it against the Leica CRF1200 and the new Zeiss. But if you are needing one now, I would not wait on me.

What kind of muzzle velocity with that bullet are you getting out of your AX.

Right now, Swaro is the best hands down. Zeiss has a new one out that is supposed to be as good for about for $200 less but no field tests yet. I have a Zeiss on order and will be the guinee pig and let everyone know how it works. Get the Swaro if you don't want to take a chance. At best, the Zeiss will function as good as the Swaro.

The Swaro is currently available as a demo unit for $789 from gr8fuldoug (Camera Land Inc.) - one of our LRH Forum sponsors. Comes with full warranty. These are demos that are displayed at Shot Show and other outdoor conventions like SCI. Good as new and no risk because the full factory warranty is included. That's how I purchased mine a year or two ago.

I get 3016 fps. It will go faster but es gets to big. I shot off a bench to get my chart right.Distances i shot were 500 yd 7.25 moa 700yds 12.25 moa 900yds 18moa 1481yrds 40 moa(100 yrd zero). The first three 500-700-900 at steel plate 20x20 really easy to hit 1/2 moa. The 1481 was at a rock it was easy also. I also had to use a bc of .860 to get drops to work on exball program(published bc is .78 for 300smk).

I just ordered one. Thanks for saving me $200!! There is my share of the stimulus plan!

Good for you. Glad you were able to take advantage of this limited offering of demo units. My demo has functioned without a hiccup and I do believe you've just purchased the best LRF that can be had for less than $800.
