I have been wanting to buy a scope from John Burs for quite a while. I have called twice to Huskemaw to speak with John in the last 6 months. Both times I was told that he wasn't in the office right now but I could talk to someone else. I found out this week that he has not ever been associated with huskemaw or even shot one! He was at the wild sheep show in Salt Lake and told me he hasn't been with the Best of the West in 2 1/2 years! When I put this question on their forum it got removed in about 3 hours! I felt i was misled by Huskemaw and since they removed my post about it on their website i am sure of it now. I decided I would post it here now so people would understand that they are using Johns system and video to sell products he isn't associated with. I bought a Leupold optic from Johns company Greybull precision and am very pleased with it.

Welcome to Long Range Hunting. Rather unique first post but if you honestly feel that you've been wronged then I guess you are entitled to vent.

I doubt that the system they are using is "John's system". If it was he wouldn't be selling the system he is now. As near as I know John worked for them and I'd venture a guess that everything, from systems to videos, that was developed during his employment with TBOTW was the property of The Best of The West.

It's true that they are selling products John isn't associated with any more but given the fact that both parties have gone their separate ways and are currently doing business with what appears to be no complaints from the other, I also venture a guess that the products and "systems" each is selling is legally their own and that they do not belong to anyone else.

Aaron Davidson and John Burns are both members here. Maybe they will shed some light on the subject.:)

Fair enough! I guess i was dooped into thinking that John was shooting a Huskemaw scope. Probably my fault! I am glad he still offers his version of the Leupold and is still in the longrange hunting world, I've always enjoyed him. As far as my first post being seen as venting, i apologize. I felt that if someone asked for John Burns they should have said that he was not a part of their company anymore and not led me to believe that he was just away from the office. They must have felt that way too because they removed my post quickly with no response! It just gave me the feeling of dishonesty.

Welcome to the world of "HR" (as in human relations) and a society that will sue at the drop of a hat. The employee that answered those phone calls was responding in a P.C. manner.
I just had to let an employee go on Monday this week, all I could tell him is that the company was an "at will company."
I am not the least be surprised that the person on the phone handled your call in the manner you have reported.
