I have been thinking about getting something to play with at the Rifle Range and was wondering if anyone has any info. on the New Ruger M77 Hawkeye Tactical in 308 .I haven't heard anything about them good or bad. Any infomation would be helpful Thank's .

I just seen yesterday that they came out with that rifle. It is a little spendy looking at the MSRP. I seen on snipercentral they were talking about it but I don't think it has hit the shelves yet. I am actually a ruger fan so I would be excited to hear how it shoots as well. I have two savage 10 fp's in 308 and they are both incredible performers.

I bought one 6 months ago and i love it. It is very accurate at the range i go to it groups five shots into 1 inch at 200yds.
I am going to join a club with a longer range to test myself out.
I just loaded some varmint rounds for it and they group a bit better. The rifle is very solid with a fully floated barrell and harris bipod.
I must say that the rifle will rust if not cleaned and oiled though which suprised me a bit.
I am currently starting to get into the long range scene and I think this rifle will serve me well.
I have hunted with it a few times and find the overall short length good to carry through the bush.
With the 20inch barrell it is loud and hearing protection is advised.
The first time i shot it in the field without earplugs was painful. lol
My number reason for buying it was the way it looks - unrealgun)
I grew up using my dads sako's and even he admits the hawkeye shoots just as well as the expensive euro's.

The Hawkeye Tact.308 has been out a year & a half or so. I wonder if you mean the Ruger Scout?
