Most accurate powder in 222?

Hi guys,
What would you all say is the most accurate powder for use in the 222 Remington?
I haven't loaded for one for quite a while, and my 'go to' powder used to be 748, is this still up there, or are there new powders that work better and give better ballistics in smaller cases.
I know H335 is 748 under the Hodgdon name, so any other recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Mine likes H-322. I use a 50 gr. Sierra Blitzking and 22.0 grains.

For the last 15 years I have used 4198.
Maybe some one here will inspire me to try some of the newer powders in my rifle this spring.
So far I have been pleased with 4198

I also get great results with IMR4198. Messed around with 3 or 4 others, but always came back to 4198. mtmuley

Dont have a 222 but a 223 i use 28.0 win. 748 50 grain horhady sp. Yes the 748 is still out there.

I've used IMR-4198 with great results with 40g bullets at 3500fps and 55g bullets at 3100fps and both shoot 1/4-1/2 MOA.

IMR-4895 also worked real well for me with 55g bullets, 3200fps and 1/2 MOA.

Overall though, 4198 is my favorite powder. I get good velocity, and great accuracy with it. See no reason to change.

I dont like ball powder either, so 4198 is nice for me.

I'm Suprised that Hodgdon's BL-C(2) hasn't been mentioned. I think one of the Mcmillan brothers still holds the 100yd Small group record using the .222 Remington and BL-C(2).

I use it in my Fathers .223 and my Uncle's .204 Ruger. I perfoms quite well in these small bore, small cased rifles.

Trust me, I LOVE powder, w/out it, bullets wouldn't get very far now would they, LOL.

I just dont care for ball powder. I individually weigh each load with a spoon from a breakfast bowl, and ball powder is a pain my ***. Biggest thing for me is that its just to messy, plus you use more of it versus stick powders, plus its temp sensitive.

Loading for my .357 mag, well thats another story. Kinda stuck with ball powder on that one. Everytime I load for it reminds me of why I wont use it in rifles. Weighing out 15g charges of ball powder with a spoon is a royal pain in the ***!!!.

I've tried a powder thrower, but dont use one or trust them.

Powder Throws are for getting you close, A Powder Trickler is what gets you exact on and they are relatively cheap. I used to do the bowl thing when I was younger, I just found that there is a better, faster, more accurate way. It's a Heck of a lot Less fustrating than doing it with a spoon.

Actually, for small kernel powders used in the 222 rem, a high dollar, custom powder thrower like a Harrells will throw charges spot on for little cases like the 222 with a little practice.

Yeah, you're right, but from my point of view and still keeping it economical.... I have 2 RCBS powder throws, one can throw a hevier charge and the other for lighter charges and the trickler. I can throw charges for my .44 Mag or .357 mag right on, I still like to trickle the larger calibers, some times my cheap power throws are off by a little.

They are about all I can afford right now, but it's still easier than a spoon.

Another vote for IMR-4198. I personally do not have a 222, but a friend that I shoot with has an older model Remy and this is his choice of powder and I've seen him shoot well with it.

I feel if you haven't tried the ball powders your living in the dark ages. Every thing i shot with ball powder has raised the velocity where i wanted it. Yes, then it can be tough on barrels if so replace the barrel. I use the Masker measure it returns to any setting 1 want with out weighing, in fact its more accurate than most scales i would say. When i buy or build a gun i want the most out of it as possible. Lets say it takes 100 rounds to fireform ( if needed ) and working up pet load. Then lets say this is a real burner and you could put a limit at 500 rounds, then i have 400 rounds left to sight in and hunt with i think it will last me the rest of my life.
