Has anyone out there shot a Gunwerks (The Best of the West) Long Range Hunting System. I was wondering if they are as good as they seem or do they just look good on tv. I was thinking of getting there custom 7mm.
Stiller Predator action, Bartlien or Broughton barrel, stock made in Canada with aluminum block. Action is screwed in without bedding. I think it has a Jewel trigger. Huskemaw scope is about $1075. Rifle comes broken in with custom turrets and factory ammo. Pricey.
Stiller action: $750, Barrel: $300-ish, trigger, $220, scope: $1075, rings/bases roughly $150, bottom metal: roughly $150, substitute stock: $400-500, pay a smith to put it together: guessing $500 to 600. -- could save roughly $1200 for near identical rifle but you have to break it in yourself and work up your own load, then send data to BOTW to get custom turret.
I'd very much like one of their rifles but not enough $$ in the budget for a full "system."
I've got a Blueprinted 700 in 7mag in the factory wood stock that has been pillar bedded, #4 Shilen at 24" long that shoots the 168 VLD at 1/2 moa with H1000. I think that is their same bullet of preference. My rifle cost me about $1700 complete.
Their rifles are every bit as good as they seem. You go that route, you won't be disappointed.
