I am new to reloading and anxious to get started, but everywhere I look, local and on the internet powders, bullets and primers are on backorder. MidwayUSA doesn't even have large rifle primers and very limited powder selection. Is this seasonal? Is this Obama? What gives?

Depending on the caliber .308 for example....it has everything to do with the 2 wars we are in right now. The military is gobbling everything up. I hear at the peak they we're shooting as much as 1.5 million rounds a day putting a strain on the civilian surplus. I order through MidWay USA and they say they're back order is 2 weeks but have received them in 10-12 days.

I dont know what you are looking for but i was looking for 6.5-284 lapua brass and 140 gr ber. and midsouth shooters supply was the only one that had it in stock so you might try them and see if they have what you want. I hope this was helpfull.

Thanks, midsouth shooters has what I needed. I see another thread on component availability (after submitting mine). Brass is not a problem for me, but large rifle primers, and powders can be really tough to find. I wish lapua made WSM brass. Midway usa has EVERY large rifle primer (mag included) out of stock with no backorder. Sportsmans warehouse here locally is out of EVERYTHING!. When I see those empty shelves and the anger rises, I donate some $ to the NRA. May not help, but it can't hurt and it makes me happy to think I m helping to at least marginally disrupt the dems plans.

Its great to Donate to the NRA, but the reason for Sportsmans Warehouses empty shelves is they are in the processes of being purchased. It shouls be finilized in a couple weeks. They are expecting the inventory levels to increase there after.

The current managemnt had run it in the ground, more worried about opening new stores than keeping the old ones stocked! IMHO.

I would suggest looking at some smaller mom and pop stores in your area. I haeve been picking things up there. I pay a little more, but atleat they have it.
