A hunting buddy of mine just bought a bunch of these for his 338 Edge which brought up the topic of B.C. Does any buddy know what it is for these bullets and is anyone using them yet?

thanks!

JEEZ, I posted the 225 grain info. Sorry long day:rolleyes:

You clearly wrote 225 so no worries :)

I also forgot to write that I have only shot them twice at targets and have not worked up a hunting load yet. I am a bit concerned that they may be a bit much for Eastern Whitetails but they can never be too dead :)

edge.

well thats a little disapointing. I was thinking these would have been closer to the 600 mark. I'm sure thay will still shoot. we'll see. thanks fellas.

250 AccuBond .575
225 AccuBond - .550

.. .025 the difference is basically meaningless

There is nothing wrong with .575 BC !!!!!!

Most "Hunting bullets" are below .500 and you have to be carefull with factory listed
BC,s because rarely will they get those BC,s when fired at long range. (Realy the only
way to find out what the true BC is).

I have tried some of those high BC bullets and been very dissapointed in there actual
performance.

The accubonds are very close to the listed BC,s and do well at long range, and on game
so they get my vote for hunting and accuracy.

I use both the 225 and the 250 in my 338 and the 250 bucks the wind a little better,
but both arrive on target with authority and accuracy.

225's make hogs wish they'd stayed out of the pasture.

txlongrange, I will sale you some cheap. I don't want to burst your bubble and hope you have great success with them. Here is my story with them. Like you I saw that high BC and went nuts over them. Ordered 4 boxes cause I got about 15 big 338's I like to shoot. I have built a lot of guns and believe me the ones I keep will shoot. I tried them in guns that will shoot anything good and some exceptional. The new 250 hornady is the worst shooting bullet I have ever shot, right there with the old barnes x before they cut the 3 cute little grooves in them and called them triple shock. I shot them in rifles that will shoot most anything into 2-4 inch groups at a quarter mile and they went to 9" groups. I tried seating depths, different powders, etc. Just couldn't get them to shoot. I have had great success with hornady bullets for 40 years but these didn't work out. I have some A-max and SST loads in other calibers that shoot great. Matter of fact I have some great loads with the 225 SST in some 338 rifles. Maybe I just got a terrible batch of them. If anyone has had any success with them I would like to know. I thought about sending these things back to hornady for a refund and see if they could figure it out.

I have shot the 225 AB's and they shoot very well. With that high BC in a light per caliber bullet I expect it to do very well. I have not done much work with the 250 AB's but the groups I have shot with them were very good. With the minimal BC difference the 225 AB seems to make more sense so I really tested that one and stopped with the 250.

LTLR,

I certainly appreciate your info.....you might have saved me a little cash. I am curious though, did you buy them all at once? You mentioned sending them back to Hornady....and I agree with you on that completely. It sounds like you might have indeed gotten a problematic batch.

Regardless, with your info, I will now throw a little caution to the wind and only purchase a box or so and see how they shoot. When I do I will post here and let you and everyone else that is interested know my results.

Thanks again.
