Has anyone ever compared long range ballistics of the two bullets at around the same mv. Just wondering if hornady's BC will stand up to a Berger?

Well seems how Bergers 210 VLD BC is .616 now, and Hornadys 208 Amax is .648. Ballistically they seems pretty close. The Amax passes the Berger in longer ranges ,like past 1000 yards, as for drop and energy. You can check it out for yourself at JBM - Calculations and just input your stuff and compair them. I personally shoot the Amax in my rifle and they shoot great and hit hard. And my drops match the BC for this bullet on all ranges with using the JBM calculator program. So I guess what it comes down to is if you want to spend 45 bucks a box for Bergers or 30 bucks a box for Amaxs and also which shoots the best in your rifle. Everyones rifle is different. -Jake-

I just got two boxes of Berger 210's that have a BC of 0.575 on the box????

Yes, the bullets are the same as always, they have just recently started a new method of calculating the BC. I think they are using an average velocity like 1500 to 3000 FPS. Using the program I use (Nightforce Exbal) I have found the prior .631 to work for me with my muzzle velocity of 3120.

Montana,
Sorry for the mistake on your labels, our currently assessed BC for the 210 VLD is 0.616.
By the same method, I measured the BC of the 208 Amax at 0.633, both are average values from 3000 to 1500 fps.
I'm working on designs for some better heavyweight (230 grain) options in .308 caliber, but they're a long ways off yet.

Brozs, I was just going by what I have read about the BC of the Bergers and also by their site. If thats the BC that works for you then good. Didn't mean for it to blow up like this. It's kind of like I shoot the Amaxs and use the BC of .648 it works for me and is spot on. But bsl135 says he tested the Amaxs out at a BC of .633, so I guess we're all alittle off. I was just letting ZSteinle know my opinion and experiences with Amaxs and with Bergers. Just my 2 cents. Jake

Berger must have just changed their website in the last few days, last week it was listed as .631.
I just noticed my exbal program has it listed as .640 and it was spot on with my 300WM at 2865fps.

Oh Brozs, I shoot the Amaxs out of my 300 Win Mag. And was running them at about 2800fps, but I have since changed my load and it should be running closer to 2900fps. I will check it this weekend. Jake

I think it is really kind of a guess for the average shooter with average equipment to determine actual B.C. #'s.How do we really know our chronogragh's are 100% accurate?About all we can do is fudge #'s to get things to match up with our drop charts,as long as it works,I guess that's all that really matters.
