1350 Yard PA Buck Video

This deer was taken back in 2007 by my uncle. As you'll see the first shot hits the dead limb hanging out above the deer. This deer is 1350 yards away and standing on a very steep mountain. That limb is actually about 50 yards in front of the deer so on the bullets downward fall it may look like that shot would have been high, but actually it would have been right there due to the bullet had another 50 yards of downward drop. I'm sure all you long rangers know that, but just to clarify. This deer was hit through the chest and out the far front leg. This deer had to have covered close to 500 yards on its down hill death run before finally flipping over. Enjoy

Norma brass
87.5g H570
Fed. 215 primer
168g SMK
just under 3300 fps.

No, the bullet was a complete pass through the chest, hit the far leg and into the dirt.

Kevin, we shoot the 7mm/300 wby also we use 87gr. of h870 with the 168smk. When you fire form you brass do you use a full or reduced load, also how many loads do you get per case? We use norma brass also.

For fire forming the brass we reduce the load and shoot junk bullets. Usually get between 7-10 firings out of the brass before we through it away. 100 pcs. of brass last for several years as it's just a deer/bear gun and occasionally we kill a few rocks too. The brass is still usuable but why take the chance on getting a seperated case head when shooting back in the mountains with no means of removing it.

The bullet did not frag through the chest, small hole insmall hole out. It didn't hit any bone to help peel the jacket off. In between a rib, through the lung, and out the lower armpit area, then hit the deer in the leg but still didn't hit any bone. He wasn't tore up hardly at all.
